FANTASY WORLD FACEOFF HOCKEY ASSOCIATION

League Rules

League
The FWFHA is a 16 team "draft keeper" league with NO finances, NO contracts..
Everything is done and stored on my comp and the league website.. We use the contacts page
for league emails and we will use the league website for all files. All correspondance
is done by email, ICQ, MSN Messenger and Yahoo Messanger..
The Face-Off sim is not required, BUT WILL BE WHEN FOH 2008 is released.

GM/OWNER'S responsibilities
Basically all I ask is that owners are active when I ask for it...
Each owner is in charge sending me line changes (either text or Face-off file), roster changes,
trade confirmations, and feedback whenever I ask or need it.. I require complete activness
come draft time.. I expect all owners to respond to all trade offers, even if U think the deal
is a joke.. (there is nothing worse than waiting for weeks to find out that the other guy
is not interested anymore..) And last but not least my #1 rule is HAVE FUN...

Season
I will be playing the whole season on my comp, 80 games in a season..
1 season per year starting in early October, (as long as the newest version of the Face-Off
sim is realeased on time.), with playoffs going late May early June..
The League uses "old school" rules. We have 10 min 5x5 overtimes, with no points for OT loss..
There are plenty of yearly
awards given out at the end of the season. There will be an annual rookie draft consisting of
5 rds of drafting, with everyone who is not on any teams currently in the league being available..
There will be an unassigned list and a rookie list to choose from. Players must have played at
least 1 NHL game to be eligible for ratings, and the Draft..

Prospects
Players that were rated in a previous season but do not play or get rated in the current season,
will get a 0 games played rating.
These players can be held on a roster as long as the GM wants, but they DO count toward the teams 50man total roster

Draft lottery
The 4 NON-playoff teams are eligible for the 1st overall pick, ballots being
weighted in favor of the lower placing teams.. For example the teams to miss the playoffs in
Season 3 were Las Cruces 16th with 4 ballots, Brooks 15th with 3 ballots, Winnipeg 13th with
2 ballots and Yorkton 11th with 1 Ballot.. Since Wainwright 14th and California 12th made the
playoffs, even though they finished the regular season with fewer points, they were excluded
from the lottery. I didn't like the idea of the same team possibly winning the cup and
getting 1st overall with thier pick so its either make the playoffs or be in the draft lottery,
not both.

Rosters etc..
Roster limit of 50 players (THIS INCLUDES ALL PLAYERS ON ROSTER inc 0GP)..
Any teams over that will have to drop someone before the season starts.. The actual pro team
will consist of 18 skaters and 2 goalies.. As for player usage there currently is no limit to
the minimum that they have played.. BUT I have rule over a "freak" player that could upset the
balance of the league.. as long as the ratings and such are not too outrageous they can play..
For Goalies I will set a minnimum games played for starters (to be determined each year at
Commish discression) This is normally around 20+/- games.
NOTE - 08/09 season starting goalies are set at 25 gp and 09/10 season they will be 30 gp

Playoff Setup
12 teams total make the playoffs with the division leaders getting the 1st rd by's seeded by points.
#1 and #2 for the Campbell Confrence
#1 and #2 for the Wales Walesconfrence
So winning your division will gurrentee you a spot in the final 8 teams.

The remaining top 4 teams from each confrence will be playing in the 1st round ,
which is a best of 5 series (2,2,1 format), with the last 2 teams in each confrence missing the playoffs.
The 1st round will be set up like this for each confrence.
3rd vs 6th
4th vs 5th

In round 2 the division leaders will have home ice advantage with the #1 seeded team
in each confrence playing the lowest seeded team. Round 2 and beyond will be all
best of 7 series (2,2,1,1,1 format). Each round AFTER round 2 will see the lowest seeded
team playing the highest seeded team according to points etc (just like the NHL).
