Adrenaline
October 20, 2005
Toronto, Ontario
RICOH Coliseum

As good as the Edge versus Mitsuharu Misawa Heavyweight championship match from last week was, Satoshi Kojima's first defense (and match) in Canadian wrestling history in this territory against the "King of Old School" Steve Corino was that much better. For eighteen minutes of inteste action, the #1 and #3 ranked wrestlers went toe to toe. The fans in attendance were shocked to seeing a near title change when Corino ducked Kojima's devastating Lariat and hit the Northern Lights Bomb, which the World champion kicked out. It was only a couple of minutes later when Kojima hit the modified Emerald Frosion to win and retain his championship. The two combatants received a standing ovation, but it wasn't just from the crowd. Heavyweight champion Edge came down and handed the World title belt to Kojima. The two stared each other down until the show came to an end.

Who will wrestle SoCal Pro champion Christopher Daniels at Glory and the Gold? Christian was pleading his case to new commissioner Scott D'Amore, however, it was Vampiro who had contacted D'Amore after last week's event. D'Amore announced a number one contenders match between Christian and Vampiro later that night. It was time for the contest to begin, but when no one came out, we were taken backstage to a huge brawl! Christian had thrown Vampiro into the wall and was about to hit the Unprettier when security broke the battle up! As a result, no match took place. Later that night, Test was heard in the commissioners office: "Daniels can outwrestle Christian and Vampiro, but he can't overpower me. And what better way to start off Adrenaline with me throwing the SoCal title in the garbage ... which is exactly where it belongs!"

Chris Jericho and Sean Morley were wrestling in a challenge laid down by Morley the week earlier. It was an even bout, but Jericho had a game plan going in - when in doubt, resort to interference. Mid-match, "The Mecca" Shawn Stasiak came down and would trip Morley whenever possible. Morley had battled back twice from deficits. Jericho was hit with a "main event" spinebuster after a referee bump, and Morley went to the top for the patentend Money Shot. Stasiak took the opportunity to knock Morley off of the ropes and hit a huge Fisherman Suplex. Jericho had covered up for the win. A 2-on-1 attack was saved by Chris Benoit, leading to a tag team match next week.

Jack Evans opportunity to become an elite Cruiserweight in CXW was interrupted by one of "Showtime" Robby Royce. Evans, coming off a loss to Petey Williams for the Cruiserweight title a week earlier, had a chance to get a victory over "Showtime" Eric Young, but just under the 6-minute mark, Robby Royce attacked Young. Royce stated: "I guess we'll know who the REAL 'Showtime' is next week!"

The Results ...

  1. Eric Young drew with Jack Evans via interference

  2. Chris Jericho defeated Sean Morley with a roll-up

  3. Christian versus Vampiro did not happen due to a pre-match brawl

  4. World Heavyweight Championship: Satoshi Kojima [c] defeated Steve Corino with a modified Emerald Frosion
