September 15, 2005 Bobby
Roode made an open challenge to anybody in the lockerroom
backstage, and it was accepted by Vampiro. Interestingly
enough, Vampiro had lost to Roode in round one of the
Heavyweight championship tournament. Roode last lost to
Chris Benoit (August 18, 2005) and Vampiro last wrestled
Corino in a no contest (September 8, 2005) Jack Evans defeated Eric Young with the Corkscrew 630 splash. Assault
& Battery, who are under contract to CXW but are
mainstays in XXX as well, haven't been able to get
rolling up north. They are 1-2 in the month of September.
Shawn Stasiak, however, is on a roll. After losing to
Sean Morley in the first round on August 11, he since has
cost Morley a second round match and defeated Morley
indirectly in a tag team match last week. Sean Morley is
the complete opposite of Stasiak - winning in his debut
match, but losing the second round and last week directly
to Edge. Morley is hoping that the luck of The Dream Team
will help him out in this match. Since they both lost
first round matches in the Cruiserweight title
tournament, Kenny Omega and Mentallo are undefeated in
four matches in the month of September. Next week, Bobby Roode and Christian will team up against Steve Corino and Vampiro. Chris
Benoit is having his fair share of trouble with Chris
Jericho. Benoit had beat Jericho in the semi-finals of
the Heavyweight championship tournament, but Jericho got
his revenge in the finals later that night, costing
Benoit the title. Test, who won a first round match but
lost the second round to Edge, proved he could hang with
the big boys last week by teaming with Shawn Stasiak to
defeat Sean Morley (directly) and Edge's replacement
partner (since he wrestled in the World Heavyweight
tournament) Jason the Terrible (Triple X Wrestling). Petey
Williams had the undauntable task of making his first
Cruiserweight championship defense against Royal Road
Pro-Wrestling standout Jushin "Thunder" Liger.
Williams has been a force to be reckonned with in
Canadian X Wrestling, going undefeated in Cruiserweight
competition. In Royal Road, Liger is has compiled four
victories and two losses since August 1, 2005, his most
recent coming over Koji Kanemoto on September 10. |
