Did you attend the Reunion?: I'd Say So
Comments:
Warm greetings from Manhasset. Traffic has slowed on our site, but this woke me up recently...saw a terrific and very moving film, You Can Count On Me w/Laura Linney and Matthew Broderick. It was shot entirely in Margaretville (yes, THAT Margaretville!), NY, and I thought there would be a reference at some point to "how about those spoiled Tarigo kids who used to come through here back in the 60s." Alas, it was not to be, but it did revive memories of trying to convince the Cass Inn bartender that I was of age. Hope the holidays and 2001 are filled with health and prosperity, y'all. Howie

So, I'm sitting getting my nails done yesterday and start to talk to another girl (I still think I'm 18) across the naildrying table. She has young kids who are going to camp next summer. I start to tell her about our great reunion. Says her husband's amp had a reunion this summer. Asked where I went to camp. Said TA-RI-Go. She looked at me as if I were from outer space. Said her husband went there. Missed the reunion bcuz of company. I went home and looked on the list of boy campers. Sure enough. There was his name. Arthur Wolk. I didn't know him, was there after me. The purpose of this story is to talk about TA-RI-GO wherever you are and with whoever your with. You'll never know who you'll run into!!

I've been meaning to write a few words on this site for a while now...Just waiting for the Yankee's to 3-peat...For the past several years I've personally seen how hard my brother worked to make the reunion a reality. It was a tremendous thrill to see him make 250 people so happy...Along with 249 others I'd really like to thank him...He arranged everything perfectly except next time he has to control the gnats on the golf course...Looking around at the reunion it was nice to know that all those joyful summ rs produced such "normal" people...

I'm submitting this to correct my e-mail address. I also want you to know that I visited the Tarigo site a few times. The first time I was there, about 15 years ago, the social hall was still there, although in ruins. Inside you could still see some of th plaques that hadn't been removed because they were too high up. The last time I was there just about everything was gone...except the Tarigo sign. I took the letters "T" and "A" and still have them in my possession. Say "hi" to Bobby for me. I remember h m as a great athlete and a terrific kid.

If people want to pencil in the weekend of August 19-21, 2005 for a possible second reunion, that is fine with me. That is the 3rd weekend in August before kids go back to college and after the Pinsky's camp is finished. So plan your weddings and Bar M tzvah's accordingly. I will keep the website going, so people can keep in touch, but this time MANY others will have to take an active role in organizing, staffing and producing the event. So think over what, where and how you think this second reunion should take place. We have enough time to see if there will be enough people to swing another one. If not, there is always 2010! I will develop a way for people to sponsor the website each month to keep the funds flowing. I'll send out the information in the next emailing. Rick

I don't think my body stopped shaking the entire time I was at the Nevele. it was probably one of the best days of my adult life- I think if I could live a Twilight Zone episode, where that day just kept repeating itself over & over again for the rest of y life, I would be a very happy woman. I truly believe that Camp TaRiGo put me on the road to becoming a good & decent person. It certainly helped develop my taste in music and the kind of people I like to surround myself with- and I have carried those t stes around for 25 years. I could basically wrap all of you up and move you down to Texas, and we would all be buddies and hang out together every week. It was overwhelmingly, incredible to see all of you again. It is amazing how after all this time the nly people I didn't recognize was Ellen Pinsky (I thought she was Ricky Saper's wife) and Steven Pinsky, because he had the nerve to grow up and become a man (maybe there's something in the Pinsky water). I am so thankful for all of my great memories, bu I am even more thankful that the Gods (one of them being Rick) had chosen us to reconnect and continue our friendships- hopefully well into our golden years. I would love to see as many of you again as possible, I would love to try and plan a weekend at a spa, hotel, brothel, whatever, or even down here in Texas, at least sooner than 2005. So, please keep in touch, write, call, email, anything, but do not lose contact with me again! Hey remember when the porch collapsed at Camp Olympus.... Bummers at camp olympus a place where bones break and porches collapse we lost some friends in ------??? and now the camp is being condemned bummers at camp olympuus ??????(can't remember the last line) anyway guys, once again thanks for all of the memories and everything you gave to me that kept me strong for 25 years!

My brother Mitchell told me about this website today. He said it would bring a smile to my face. It certainly did. It also brought a rush of some of my most cherished memories. Camp Tarigo was such an important part of my life. I spent nine years ther , and had so many incredibly experiences. I remember so many songs. The one about Uncle Bubby, Aunt Teddy, the entire girls sing when we were the beatniks, Color War songs it came flooding back. So many things I hadn't thought about for years. There we e people at camp that influenced my life so profoundly, and after reading through all the other messages I was glad to see many of their names. I have been married for 30 years. I have two daughters ages 25 and 22 and have lived in Miami, Florida since 982. I'm glad the reunion was so successful! Seeing all these pictures, and reading all these stories was truly a delight. Thank you for this special gift!

I still have not come down from the reunion "high". I keep getting flashbacks of camp and the reunion. One theme that keeps running around in my head is that I was so lucky to span different generations at camp and then re-live them again one weekend in August. I was able to hang with the people who I viewed as "cool"...who I looked up to as a young camper and wanted to be like when I grew up...Nardi Levine,Richie Sarkin, Chet, Larry, Barbara Levin and Cash...real class acts as counselors and the nicest eople now, even though they may be mass murderers. I spent time with bunkmates...Beaver, Brent, Mitch Brozinsky, Jeff Koval, Barry Schwartz, Monty, Screwie Lewie, Wayne, Howie Balin...great kids, and now look at them. I saw my former campers,Neil, Ricky, Scott, Mitchell, Jana, Andew,David and Steven and my cousins and seeing how they turned out, questioned my ability as a counselor. Then I got to spend time with my buddies and true loves: Pugs, Izzy, Larry, Lori Simon, Lori Edelstein, Geri,Marlene, Mindy Jane, Stats, Penny..who took great care of my daughter this summer at Westmont...and Ellen, ditto, Robin, and Judy, Bob and Bobbi..my god, what we did to ourselves in those days...... I loved seeing you all and think of you often. I can't wait until we do it again.

Ellen,Barbara and I drove up to the Nevele so excited, smiles stuck on our faces wondering about all the people who were going to be at the reunion. We talked about all of our great experiences at camp the whole way up{4 hours,1hour being stuck at the Lincoln Tunnel}.Those smiles never left our faces. It was so wonderful to see everybody. You all looked great "exactly the same." Catching up on the past 30 something years was wonderful.Jane and Steve you look great.Ronnie,Larry and Izzy-it was great seeing you together although Izzy it was a little "selfish" of you not to invite Larry and Ronnie to join you on your shower raid.We were hysterical when Annie told us that story.Susan,Randy only wanted to hear you sing Peter Pan.I can't wait to get together with you.Frey,do you still have the Santa hat you wore when you used to raid the canteen?Lori,Joyce,Judy we missed you Sat. night, we had a very intense jacks game.I think it took us an hour to get to fivesies.Mindy and Sockamin were good. They must be closet jack players. A "townie" wanted to join us but we said no way.Right Judges Debbie and Barbara? We never got to do fancies. It was past our bedtime. We never had services. We were practicing Zoom Gali Gali Gali on our trip up.Seeing all the cool senior girls was a lot of fun. You all looked great. We never did get to read the True Confessions magazine. Next time.Steve Gruder hope you got the message about Tues.Bruce it was fun seeing you again.Next time we need microphones for our dedications.Quiet please dedicated to Ricky-Thank you for making this reunion.Your hard work in orgaanizing and planning this amazing weekend was greatly appreciated by all.And you are so funny.Much funnier than the comedians at the Nevele.Thank you again.Suzi I promise I'll call next week. Mindy and Larry hope your children are better.Randy you have a job to do.Taking the group picture with our t-shirts on was fun.Singing "Summers at Camp Tarigo","Friends,Friends,Friends","Day is Done" and "Neg,Nord,Nud"{Is that how you spell it?} was a great way to conclude our evening activity.Stuie we missed you and Desperado.Karen,Lori and Beverly my roommates I missed you too.Everybody-Thanks for the smiles,l

It was sad to read the list of those who have died, but, as unt Belle Wilder's niece I thought you might like to know that she is 92 and still living on her own in Lynchburg, VA near son Mal. When I visited her last year, we reminisced and sang the Alma Mater. She remembered the words better than I! Also, some f the Color War song lyrics printed on the web site were written by my brother, Bruce Sidelnik, a professional musician and entertainer for many years, and living in NJ. I too think of Camp often and as the happiest times of my childhood. Maddy Sidelni , Basking Ridge, NJ

To all of my friends: I will personally e-mail you to let you know that I was sorry that I could not stay the entire weekend. I was grateful for the time that I had. As soon as I got home, I went immediately back to work, and spent Saturday Nite, and a l day Sunday getting a kid out of jail. So, I was needed somewhere else. I refuse to look at the cup as being half-empty, but, rather half full. On the way home, with my fiancee driving, I fell asleep. I had a dream. Debbie Percher was laughing and t lking to me on one side, Michael Lewis was talking in my other ear, and I was laughing as I sat around the table with all of you. That's when I realized how happy I was that at least I made it to part of the reunion, and didn't miss it altogether. The n xt time we all get together, I won't be new to my job, and I will get to have the entire time to spend with everyone. It was especially nice to See Debbie, Michael, Rick Landman,Bruce Howie,Jackie, Rhonda, Laurie, Richie Sarkin,Jack, and the Pinsky famil , and Stats. Mitch and Donna Say Hello, Steven. I loved seeing everyone. I won't say goodbye, but, until then. Love Monty Richard J Montanaro.

I got back the photos and will start scanning things tonight. I have started to re-work the website. I miss the anticipation, but I am glad that so many of you rekindled friendships and made new friends too. We all got a glimpse of feeling some of the good times of TARIGO. We were a very special group of people and the camp had its special moments. I will send everyone a detailed email later this week. I miss you all.

Wow - what a feeling! Rick - what can I say? Is thank you enough? Can it ever be? It was truly amazing - y'know, I had a dream this past weekend and about 250 Tarigo people were in it! How did that happen? I 'think' I saw Gail Youngerman (and Neil); Pinsky, Kittay (the 'fearsome foursome' returns), Janie and Steve (Janie, Jody sends h r regards and Ronni Kipnis was the third roommate in the dorm with she and you), Frey (there better be a tennis match next time! see you in the Windy City), Sue 'Sockamin' Sorkin (not on horseback!),Vecc, Ronnie, Bruce and Mark Pomerantz, Lori E., Larry a d David B., Milgrim, Izzy, Mindy D. (Jody says hi; I'll see you around the 'hood),Penny (nice jacks action!), all of the Silvers, Steven (thanks for the great softball game!), Ellen, Beverly, and of course, homage to Jack and Lenni always. Howie Bailen - you have a great sense of humor and Michael Lewis, Barb Levin, and Janis Herskovits - it was nice to put a face with a name. In this dream, we even played a terrific game of volleyball - thanks to everyone for your spirit and in some cases, for being a weekend athlete! Everyone still had that drive!("our team is red hot...") I had a very funny feeling driving home - not unlike that feeling I used to get on the bus headed southward from Fleischmanns at the end of August. It was wonderful seeing everyone and catching up, and just a little bittersweet having to say goodbye so uickly. This whole weekend was very surreal - did it even happen? Please convince me that it did by periodically staying in touch. I'll try. And hopefully Rick, you got to relive the joy of Camp Tarigo without the obligatory sports activities! Loved your monologue on Sat. nite - You really should get an agent and take it out on the road!

My years at Tarigo were among the greatest summers of my life. I really enjoyed being Camp Rabbi and Drama Coach. Drs. John Sherman and Danny Roses, who are two of America's most eminent physicians are very dear friends to this day. How many of you rememb r Aunt Evelyn? I was so sorry to hear about Ted Salzman's death. He and I were good friends for many years even after I stopped coming to Tarigo. A lot of my Columbia Classmates were also counselors at Tarigo including Eric Gruen who is one of the world's greatest authorities on Roman history and Donny Clarick who is a lawyer. I was first introduced to the camp by my cousin Stanley Bloch who sadly passed away almost 2 years ago. Best wishes on the reunion. I'm only sorry that my wife and I can't be there. I was hoping to come to the reunion- even for a day, but will be on vacation and can't re-schedule it. I do have some amazing pictures from camp and will send them over for the reunion "wall" of memories. My summers at Camp Tarigo were filled with such great memories - especially the years in the Senior Dorm. Ellen Pinsky, Lori Simon, Marcia Sippel, Barbara Dinowitz, Beth Horowitz, Susan Horowitz, Mindy Dorman (the BEST athlete), Joyce Gruber, Donna Lurie, Gay Schwimmer (and her great care packages from Grandma), April Sherman (what about "Metal"?) ....to name just a few. My brother Andy and cousins Glenn (of "Glen, Glen, Miller fame) and Glen ("Whitey") Seidman were also at camp. Every time I hear The Eagles, Neil Young or Carly Simon, I always think of Tarigo. I remember the Senior Trip to Montreal (Lori Simon...do you remember that we almost didn't go on the trip because Jack caught us on boys camp one night?), our year as wait esses (the dining room was never the same after that), Woodstock, Stephen Stills in concert, tennis tournaments with Timberlake and Oquago, Color War alma maters that I can still sing line by line, "Stevie" Gordon, Sandy & Elliot Penn, Morty Kotkin on the waterfront in his black socks, "inch-me, pinchme", the rain song that we used to do with our shoes? , "Grease", "West Side Story", .....and on and on and on. My 10-year old daughter Sam just came home from camp last night, and she talks about her camp experience with the same feelings....songs from Sing, Color War, trips, carnival, plays, great friends..... Will be thinking about everyone the weekend of the 25th - can't wait to see the pictures up on the site.

Hi everyone, I have a suggestion. Since most peo- ple tell me they only have photos of the people in their bunk and not the opposite sex they hung out with or campgrounds, take some photos to a copy center and they can make copies. Black and white ones are really inexpensive. It will be real nice to be able to have "before" pictures to go with the ones we all take at the reunion. I've already done it. I just hope I remember to bring them!

Does anyone remember the great BLTs from the luncheonette in town? My bunk was asked never to return to camp after the "blowing up the toilet" incident, so my second summer was my last summer there. Did anyone ever tell the owners that it was the counse ors, not the campers who were responsible? Last memory jog for my bunk - the riflery instructor coming in drunk one night waving his pistol around telling anyone who was still awake "not to move". Who else remembers Sgt. Pepper's one day on the loudspea ers instead of the usual camp calls? The canoe trip was one of my favorite experiences.

Never thought I'd be communicating with any of you folks again... My cousin Carol Minkin (who I'd also not seen for twenty someodd years until last summer) sent me an E-mail the other day telling me to check out TARIGO.com. It flat-out blew my mind. I spe t quite a bit of time looking around and reliving memories. I must admit I had some impure thoughts about some of the senior girls. Rick: I have no memory of you whatsoever, but thanks for taking the time to create and maintain this site. First memory tha came to mind was showing up for camp in mid-summer '75 due to a family vacation and finding that the joint had been taken over by "Impalas". I thought an Impala was an animal that lived in Africa. I remember on my first morning at TARIGO that summer, I h d to suffer through an interogation by Stu (Allen?)... and I remember thinking "this guy has some nerve!". Imagine HIM interogating ME like I'm the newcomer and he's the veteran. I also remember smoking some oregano-like substance with Jay Eagleberg and h m freaking out when I threw half of it away. I thought it was like smoking a cigarette... when it burned your fingers it was time to get rid of it. I would like to come to the reunion and would seriously consider doing so if I'd had more notice. I've alre dy taken three road trips this summer and can't get away again. Living in southeastern Virginia since '85. Married plus four. Life is good here... I'm up for parole in a few weeks. Does any one remember a guy named Dave Ouellette? He's from Worchester, Ma s. and was in camp one summer (75?), refered by Rich Goldsmith. The funny thing about it is I have no memory of him from camp at all, but I've been working with the guy, on and off, since '82. A couple of years ago, we were hanging around shooting the XXX and we discovered we were at TARIGO at the same time and neither one of us had any recollection of the other. I have '75 lodge and '76 senior boys pictures in good shape. I will send to Rick once I have 'em digitized. Did Sperling ever catch on as a stan -up comedian?... I'd pay to see that act. Regards to all, Dave.

Now that the reunion is upon us, I wrote a tribute to my friends from camp 1969-1973. This I hope will get you in the spirit.(to the tune of livin la vida loca) Michael Lewis is..livin la vida loca. Inside/Outside, Hey, livin la vida loca. He called m by my name..his discription, of me was insane..inside/outside, hey. Next-Ahy aye yhy yhy..At Tarigo we ate too much tuna fish, and today's food was just as bad as the other days food, but we all drank at the cat's meow. And remember the constant playing on the PA, Stewie Levine's "chicken fat" For good food, every morning, we cried...for good food, now and then. D d anyone read Neal's greeting for everyone to have a great reunion. Well, from every one of his campers in the senior boys lodge, we would have loved to read a greeting saying, have a great reunion, I'm sending you my girlfriend from 1969, Liz Elman. se you all folks, and as always, just in fun. Remember Apache Relays during Color War? Pounding brooms on the dining room floor and yelling "sweep, sweep, sweep" also during Color War if your team had won it all on a particular day? Howie, it was a very dark walk back to camp on movie night--rememb r taking a sip of cold water from the runoff over the rocks as we walked back (or to town)? Ok, enough wandering of the mind--must get back to work. And, Judy Bancroft, I do remember you. Hope to see everyone at the Nevele.

Surprised I haven't seen (maybe someone did mention) a discussion about our walks back to camp after going into town for a movie. You do remember! Total darkness. Winding road. Rick. Thanks for putting this together. I visited Ta-Ri-Go in the late 80s before the Social Hall burned down. All the plaques were up on the walls. The Samuarai and the Cossacks ('63, I think). I seem to remember Bonnie & Jay as the generals for the Cossacks? Neg Nort Nud! I read somebody's message that mentioned, "The Hills of Health". What a catchy phrase-I totally forgot about it. I didn't see Steve Zaretsky's name on the list of campers. I think he is living in New Canaan, CT. I will try to ontact him. I am living in NYC with my wife and 15 year old son. I just went to his visiting day. Regards to all.

One of these days when I move and go through some things in storage,I will take a picture for u of the mosiac tile plaque that hung in the social hall of the 1960 color war between the Vikings and the Romans. One weekend I went up with my wife Carol and somehow the plaque ended up in my car. Believe it or not. I still have it tucked away. ANYWAY, HAVE A GREAT REUNION

Wow, what a blast from the past. One Tarigo memory: I was head of Neg Nord Nud in 74...we didn't do much, but we did hold a banquet at the end of the year. Part of our fundraising was the famous "guess how many rocks are in the jar and win 5 bucks" contes , one guess for a quarter, 5 guesses for a dollar. Well, I was approached by a former NNN officer (who will for the time being remain nameless, although I'm hoping he'll step forward on his own) who proposed that I tell him the proper amount, that he subm t that guess, and that we wouldn't have to pay him the 5 dollars. The plan worked, although I imagine anyone above the age of 15 probably suspected some corruption... One more memory...I wrote a few parodies for the senior sing in 74. One of them was "Money Can't Run a Camp" to the tune of the Beatles "Money Can't Buy You Love" Here's a verse: The food up here is really bad It's sticky and it's smelly The whole camp is surviving on Peanut butter and jelly I remember being sent to Jerry Pinsky before the sing, who went through the song with me line by line, trying to censor the more objectionable stuff. I'll never forget, he said "the food may be sticky, but it's not smelly." Of course, I had to fight for " melly" since that was my rhyme with jelly. Smelly stayed. (chorus--can't buy me love) The food is rotten That much we all know But fix those toilets Everyone's gotta go The fields are in the worst of shape The grass all looks like hay But somehow all that changes when it's time for visiting day... Anyway, I've got a 3 month old son, so it might be tough to get to the Nevele, and I don't see that many folks from my era planning to come, but I really enjoyed seeing the site and reliving the memories.

Did you make your Nevele Reservations?: Day Camper Saturday
Comments:
After reviewing the entire Camp Tarigo web site,I feel I must make the trek to the Nevele even if it is just for one day. After searching through my memory banks I've come up with a few goodies. One thing I always felt about our camp was that we knew how to have a great time. One song missing from the list was a parody of ourselves. Build up your ego, play Camp Tarigo, we are the Mets of Fleischmanns NY. Build up your ego play Camp Tarigo, the only time we get on base is when we get a walk. Hey! I wrote to Howie Bailen about the Takanassee Hotel. Now I'm starting to wonder if ther was more truth to the Howie Bailen amnesia scam of the summer of 69. I remember getting beat 56-2 in 1967 in an intercamp basketball game. The opposing teams guards were taller than our center (Richard Press). Howie scored the 2 points and the rest of us were the 2nd highest scorers with 0. But we still beat them in softball. I have been to Fleischmanns NY many times over the past 20 years. Ironically, my in-laws have lived there full time during that period. It seems the place has been frozen in time exceept for the homes that occupy our former camp grounds. My butt still hurts from getting hit with "the broom," by Richie Sarkin and Bob Turetsky. Bobby Hirsh and I were hit with that punishment for both getting into Nachum's underwear at the same time with room to spare. Richard Montanaro & I got in serious trouble for walking out of camp when everyone else was on a camp trip to Canada. In todays environment we would have been kicked out of camp. In 1968 the senior lodge deceided to do a scientific experiment to see if an ash can had a waterproof fuse; so we lit it and through it into one of toilets. None of our parents were thrilled when they got the bill to replace that toilet. I believe we we e also billed for burning up all the excess cubbies in the Senior Lodge fireplace. The Tarigo Death March of the summer of 1969. Truly a classic. The camp brass finally got us back. There is more, but I will save that for the reunion. See you all there!

Anyone (male campers only) remember what a "shtarker" was? Anyone ever give or get one? Anyone willing to admit it? In 1963 I was a counselor (Seminole, I think), along with Billy Buckner. I can remember two campers -- Abby Hoffman and David Wadro. (David was a big kid; he ended up being our enforcer.) I also was drama counselor that year. In 1983, while en route to upstate New York on a family vacation, I started reminiscing about Tarigo (or Ta-Ri-Go, as I remember it)and, on a whim, detoured to the camp. It was abandoned, buried in tall grass, the main house falling in on itself and so o . It was depressing and yet exhilarating the way it opened the memory bank. In '52, when MAD Comics were born, I buried myself in them during rest period, at night under the blanket with the flashlight (memory alert: does anyone remember tissue-bomb fights?), and talked incessantly about MAD, to the point that some guys started alling me Melvin Cosnowski, the predecessor to Alfred E. Neuman. The problem was they'd yell "Hey, Melvin!" and Melvins would turn around. So they started calling me "Veeblefetzer," MAD's all-purpose word. That quickly got shortened to "Veeble." It's been my nickname ever since, in school, college, the Army, etc. Donnie Fine's parents and mine were close friends and we considered each other cousins and hung together a lot at camp and the rest of the year (although I lived in Brooklyn and he in Rockville Center). We still keep in contact, to a degree. Anyone remember this?: boys would congregate on the grassy slope just outside the main house (the bunks at the top were for the waiters before the camp went coed), one behind another, the one in front would take eight or ten deep breaths and hold the las one, and at that moment the one behind him would hold him tight around the chest. That would knock out the one in front, or make him so woozy he'd stagger around for a few minutes. We probably were giving each other mini-strokes or something, but who kne ? I'd like to take this moment to thank Alan Berkley for breaking my nose when he lost his grip on the broom-handle bat when we and our fathers were playing stickball on the squash court. (Ahh, memories.) The doctor (if he actually had a license) in Margar tville set it off-center; it's been pointing a degree or two to the left ever since. Anyone know the whereabout of Buddy Wechsler (I'm not sure of the spelling)? He was a counselor and played piano for songfests, kids in talent shows and so on. He encouraged me, persuaded me, gave me the courage, to sing on stage. I wound up in just abou every camp show (South Pacific, Oklahoma, Finian's Rainbow and so on, and I can still sing "tempus fugit" from The Pajama Game without missing a beat). In 1956 or '57, Arthur Lord and I won two talent shows (the regular one and the "final,") by lip-synching Stan Freberg's "The Great Pretender." The following two years, Bruce Sidelnik and I became Ta-Ri-Go's version of the Everly Brothers and won some mo e talent shows. In one of the Color Wars, we were both Cowboys and the counselors decided we gave our team too much of an edge in the songfest, so only one of us could sing. Sidelnik won the coin toss, he sang, and I sat behind the curtain making clip-clo hoofbeats into the microphone when we sang our anthem. Anyone know whatever happened to Zoink (Mike Altman)? Or, for that matter, Uncle Mike Buckley? I was short, fat and Jewish (well, okay, I'm still two out of three) and couldn't play sports worth a damn -- rightfielder in softball until a lefty batted, then I moved to left. Or short-centerfielder when we had ten on a side. Then our catcher (Bobby B ck? Billy Bock? Boch?) got sick and I would up behind the plate. Mike Dean was always pitching, it seemed. He, Howie Rabinowitz and Ira Povill were the hotshots in our group. (And while I'm at it, anyone remember Mouse (Mike Holzer)? Or John Rothkopf? Or ernie Iser? Or Sylvia Finker? And while I'm at it, anyone still reading this ego-driven drivel? No wonder my family nodded off before we were halfway down the hill to town.

Tarigo trivia buffs...the abandoned hotel way back in the woods whose name I couldn't remember was, in fact, the Takanassee. Michael Lewis, Robin Mandelker, and Barry Schwartz, in that order, overcame their Tri-Decade Memory Ailment (TDMA) and ID'd the p ace. Good work! Now if I could just recall that song Cindy Wadro and Carl Kaplan sang on Parent's Weekend... it was from the show we did in '69 (I think). Or was it in '67? This is getting as spooky as the Takanassee.

I am one of the original campers of the girls' camp and am thrilled to read through all the comments. I would love to hear from those of you from Pacy's camp. Camp Tarigo is always with me. Those summers made for a lifetime of memories. I still keep i touch with Maddie Korman Cohen. I am living in Aspen Colorado with my husband of 35 years. We have 3 grown children and a 4 month old granddaughter!! The reunion sounds great, but I will not be able to attend. Hope you all have a ball. My husband an I used to go to a bed and breakfast in Phoenicia and went to visit the camp one weekend. The place was overgrown and broken down, but we drove up to the rec hall and strangely enough found colorwar placques on the steps as if they were waiting for me! ne was from my era and one from my cousin Janie Halper's. We took them home for posterity. Hope to hear from my campers!!!

Hi i found the site through my cousin Cindy Stein Lapedus. I can't believe all of the old friends that I see. The picture of the 71 group that Pomo sent in, well that's me in the middle. I'm going to e-mail all the Silvers, Pomo's, I'd like to find Ken y Vecchione, and Benay Caruso. You all take care, I wish I found out about this sooner, oh well .

There was this old, decaying, and very much shut-down (this was the late 60's) hotel we'd stumble into after hiking through the woods. Kind of a spooky place. Does anyone remember the name? I can't, and it's been bugging me. A million dollars for the first person to remember. And make sure it's your final answer. Howie See you soon!

My son told me that someone had called about a Tarigo reunion and the website. I couldn't believe it. So many memories, all of them good. Without question the best summers of my life. Me, Mitchell Friedman, Peter Feldman, Budabin!, Steven Greenberg, Mi e Ipp, Alan Brickman (it would be great to hear from any of you guys). The best counselors -- Uncle Bubby (I was the one who found the bone in Bubby's pants), Stan Wilk (I had such a crush on Ronni Wenger), Mike Dean, Larry Liner, Jerry Korn, and many mo e. Color War was like a Hollywood production. The Rock n' Roll lip synching shows. The broadway shows (remember West Side Story complete with choreography and the ramp that went up to the stage)and the talent contests. The panty raids on the girls' bu ks -- including that big one we pulled off in the middle of the night(was it Mike Dean who organized that?). The snipe hunts and Cropsy Maniac. Kissing Eva Pearl. We will definitely try to make the reunion.

So many familiar names, so many good memories. Amazing what an impact those years seem to have had on all of us. I feel very lucky to have been part of it, especially because my brother Mitch and I share so many of those memories. We talk about TaRiGo all the time; Mitch making everyone laugh as always telling stories about Screwy Louie (sorry Michael), midnite raids on boys campus, and color war victory and defeat. It seems like yesterday I was playing softball for Jack Pinsky at 211. Some of my teamates/Friends were asked to go to Tarigo and we did. We formed the toughest, sports tatented, and funny campers Tarigo ever had. (No offence to any of you) The roster is s follows: John LaCugna, Alan Marr, Eddie Nelson,Craig "Hoodie" Mendel, and myself...Ronnie Rosenbaum. Judy Vecchione..calm down I will always love you. The days of Ricky's & Tony's will live in my heart forever. Raiding the birthday cakes from the kitche (Sorry Jack...you'll get over it!)and just remembering the friends, relationships, sexual tension. I wish my kids could experience it.(It would also help get rid of them for a summer!) My greatest memories of growing up happened at camp- my first kiss, my first cigarette. I'm now married to a man I met at Camp Algonquin where I was a counselor. I have 4 kids- 21, 18, 16 & 13. I live on Long Island and am best friends with the owners of Timberlake- our old enemies. My two older kids leave for college around the weekend of the reunion, and that makes it difficult for me to attend. Does any one know what happend to Toby Wolper and Cindy Wadro? Hope to hear from some old bunk mates-

Found out about the website last night from Ellen (Schlissel) Conrad. Rick- thanks so much for your efforts and for bringing old friends together again. Glad to see others have great memories of camp. I feel as emotional as I did several years ago when I visited Tarigo with Liz (Zekster) Girardat. The social hall seemed haunted by the past. It's good to know we can gather again for what should be a yacking good time. There are several people I will attempt to contact: Liz Zekster, Rhonda Karman (& Neil), Steven Gruder, Susie Kessler, Sue Kaye Laxmeter (now Blumenthal), Gary Robinson (my cousin). Can't wait to see my bunkmates (Ellen Schlissel, Rhonda Karman, Jackie Schenkman, Cindy Stein, Laurie Kramer, Robyn Alper, Michelle Gale, Robin Glatter, Debbie Co en and so many others: Barb Levin, Karen Gottesman, Brenda Liebowitz, Susie Wenger (our counselors) who had their hands full (at least we thought we were mischievous); Janice Hershkovits,Richie Montenaro, Michael Lewis, Mark Berner, Wayne Brauner, Mike He sh, Larry Kleger, Kenny Horowitz. Where's Bobby Bernstein, Roberta Zitman, Larry Manheim? Wayne Markowitz is the new Abe Vigoda- thank god you're alive Wayne- I lost some sleep last night before I read Rick's update. Glad to hear you're doing well, Jon Sa kin-great artwork (and spirit). So excited, I ran to Kinko's today to open a hotmail account so I can communicate with anyone interested (don't have e-mail at home). My e-mail address is [email protected]. Please send me your phone #s; I'd rather speak to you. On a personal note: A month ago I moved from Naples,FL to Jupiter,FL with my husband Bill (married 18 years) and dog, Jake. I pass by TARIGO (ESTATES) many times each summer on the way to Kaplans Farm. It is still sad after all these years to see no campers and the beautiful campus that was once there. I was never a camper, however, I remember babysitting for Jack's kids. M ny of my relatives were campers, including Mindy Dorman (Cohen), Lori Stanford (Stark), David and Scott Stanford, and many more of the Kaplan clan. I know many long lasting friendships were made there and I hope you have a great reunion.

I was part of a group of 7 that came to Tarigo from Canarsie. Jack Pinsky was actually an assistant principal at JHS 211 where we went. The others were Glenn Ambinder, David Ambinder, Gary Forman, Michael Genkin and Joey Lacugna. I didn't see any of th ir names on the list of campers yet. In looking at the pictures, I did remember a few things that aren't noted. In one of my years one of the color war generals was named Les (can't remember the last name, sandy blond hair and glasses?). He was couselo and during the summer took over some duties in the dining hall, returning to be a general. Also on one of the pictures of senior boys from 1971, one of the counselors, I believe, is Richard "Goldy" Goldsmith who became the Tennis instructor the followin year. In 1972, I think the boy's head counselor was named Schneider. I can't remember the last name.

Larry Bronstein- Read your comment about finding other places to roost for the weekend of August 25th. I had suggested people staying at places more local to Fleischmanns, but that was nixed. I will not be staying at the Nevele since I live in the area. I could have had the park in Fleischamns for one of the two days and the fire dept. was willing to loan us a big tent. I also have the name of the man that now owns the property the lake is on and he would likely let us there. If anyone has any questio s about local camp sites or local hotel/motels just let me know. Larry told me about this site and I can't believe how much fun I'm having reading all the comments from so many people I remember. I enjoyed camp so much that I went this year for the first time as the "Camp Mother" to my kids camp in the Berkshires. The hings we did then, I'm now trying to prevent the kids from doing now. I guess things don't change very much when your growing up. I remember stealing Mark's bed and hiding it on boy's camp and me, Judy, Jane and Lori getting into Steve (boy's unit head?) bed he shared with his wife and child .Boy, were they surprised when they walked in. We all lived in the main house then with our campers. I remember Doc Kule and the infirmary from food poisoning. I had fun at camp, especially with my co-counselors. I'd ove to hear from anyone who remembers me.

I heard about this web site from Michael Lewis. It is a shame that we had to wait for the computer age to finally get back together. I have been waiting at the Port Authority For the last 25 years, under the clock, the first Tuesday in September. Ha Ha! That is how we met back in those days for our reunion, then everyone would go their seperate ways for the year, until we met again in the old Martha Washington Hotel on Lexington Ave. That's when you would find out about all those wonderful people who w uld be coming back for another fun summer at Ta-ri-go. Well anyway, I told Michael that I was now a social worker, and I was counseling alcoholics and drug addicts. He then said, "So does that mean you aren't fun anymore?" Well, I said no way, and that I still would take a drink now and then. You see I was afraid if he was planning a reunion, I would not get invited. No chance pal! Ever since I went into recovery back in 1988, I have not taken a drink, but I still am lots of fun to be around. Even t ough old Bruce Pomerantz named me "Willie Wino" when I was 13, and that name stuck with me until I was in my 30's. Well life has been really good to me. When I was a young counselor, back in 1990, and a young ladie said to me that I saved her brother's ife because he had heard me speak in an alcohol rehab, and he decided that he was going to be sober for good. That's when I fell in love with social service. I have been at it since, and worked very hard. I recently earned my Bachelor's in social work, and next year I will be working toward my Master's in counseling. Well, love to all, and I hope to see everyone at the reunion. Stay happy and healthy. Love Richard.

I have a great "Small World" story. When I was told about this site yesterday, I had not thought about Tarigo for many, many years. But the site is great and has brought back many great memories. I recall wanting to go to camp each year to see my camp friend Louie Wichman. We started in 195 , when we were 6 years old, in Apache (of course) and ended our association with the camp 13 years later. In fact, we attended each other's weddings. But Louie and I have not spoken in about 25 years. Last night, I searched this site for his email address and name but with no luck. When I got to work this morning, I did a search on one of the search engines for "Louis Wichman" figuring that I would get at least 2000 of them and that would be the end of my search. But, lo and behold, there was only ONE and uess where he lives.... right here in the same exact town in which my store, Your Move Chess & Games, is located!!!! I called him and we spoke for about 20 minutes. We will be having dinner in a couple of weeks. If anyone out there knows Louie or myself, ou are invited to join us. - Steve Schwartz

I lost Color War 12 years in a row. Pretty crazy considering that there was a 50-50 chance. I only won in my last year when I was a counselor. I was the only camper to ever get an "Honerable Mention" for the "Character Award" but I never won the damn awar . Great memories, though, at Tarigo. How great! I laughed so much reading everyones memories and thinking of mine. They are great memories. 1234 WE WANT COLORWAR!Raising the flag, the lake, canoeing, waterskiing, raids on the boys bunks. Does anyone remember the raid we did down at the lake? That was incredible! I could go on forever. I have to get my sisters Debbie and Diane to look at this web page! We loved Camp Ta-Ri-Go...

Senior Dorm Summer of 1968 where are you? Some of us made life long friends that summer (and others) yet we do not seem to be taking an active interest of finding the group. I think that is disappointing and I would like to ask each of you to help me so ve that situation. The following are the names I remember- Rhonda Karman, Debbie Percher, Ellen Schlissel. Cindy Stein, Michelle Gale, Laurie Kramer, Robyn Alper, Robin Glatter, Susan Garcia, and me- Jackie Schenkman. First, can you help me fill in the issing names? Second, can you give me any clue as to where these people are now or what their name might be? Are you in touch with their siblings? Anything that might help. You can reach me at my e-mail or through the guest book. I know 31 years is a ong time but camp bonds are special and I want each of us to experience this again.

Does anyone else remember watching the walk on the moon in the social hall. The black and white "very small" tv's (I think there were two of them) were atop the benches and we all sat on the floor amazed at both the thought of men on the moon as well as V at camp. Hard to believe that was 30 years ago today. Seems like yesterday. I'm looking forward to seeing all those "shining faces" next summer!!

Ten great things, in no particular order, from the summers in the sixties ---Whenever the magazines arrived, attention: Bruce "Pomo" Pomerantz...he got the good ones ---Beating heavily-favored Timberlake in basketball. Thank you Monty! ---The free time after dinner when you didn't have to be anywhere; same for the day after Color War. ---Speaking of Color War, Bobby Landman's rousing speech to our team in '67, which had some powerful weather-releated references...like, "The sun will rise over our team..." ---listening to a bunch of (including me) off-key singers sing "Soldier Boy" to Mike Cohen when he was going back to base ---trying to figure out why the girls our age wanted to hang with the older guys (OK - not one of the great things). I still don't understand. ---first kiss, literally...you know who you are ---the bus ride to Expo '67 ---having Coco convince me that the Mary Jane candies he was fond of was actually that other Mary Jane. ---Barbara Levin's laugh A whole bunch of new memories will probably hit me in three weeks when I head up to the camp area...first time since way back. My favorite memories of camp Ta-Ri-Go : Hot pie/watermellon, protesting the 99th showing of the Flower Drum Song,Color war breaking, sadie hawkins day, scavenger hunt night when everything not nailed down ended up in the rec hall, having your table say shh...shh...shh...quiet please in the mess h ll and then saying something embarrasing about one of your bunkmates, playing low card and not getting your bed dumped, counting how many showers Marshall Strax took during the course of the day, camp visiting day, getting docked from late night for doing something stupid, flipping baseball cards in the kybo, throwing spit balls on the rafters, jumping from the rafters onto your bed, listening to 45's on the record player the counselers had, eating chocolate ice cream with marshmallow sauce after bowling i town, I could go on, but I'll wait to see everyone at the reunion. Before I sign off, a few corrections and additions to the website. correction : the color war team in 1961 was the English Cavaliers, not the English Lords. additions : In 1965, the teams were the Devils vs. the Angels. My two favorite camp songs: " We are the boys of Ta-Ri-Go you hear so much about, that people stop and stare at us whenever we go out , we're noted for our misery and everything we do, cause everybody hates us! We hope you hate us too! As we go marching and the band begins to pee by the roadside you can hear us shouting, toilet paper, toilet paper five cents a roll!! It seems to me, It seems to me, It seems to me like misery!!!" ( this was sung while we marched the mile to town ) and my other favorite camp song was sung when we playe other camps and it went like this: " Build up your ego play camp Ta-Ri-Go we are the Mets of Fleishmanns New York, build up your ego play camp Ta-Ri-Go the only time we get on base is when we get a walk!"( remember the '62 Mets ) Hi to Neil Kipnes and Artie Levin. Hope to see you guys soon. Warren

I think we should all have a re-union in Margaretville and then travel up Little Red Kill road to the old campgrounds and arrange a picnic. We could have chocolate milk, buttered rolls, and hard boiled eggs just like in old times! How many people have responded so far and when do you think the plans will be finalized? It would be interesting to see some of the old bunkmates and find out what they are doing today.

I tried this yesterday and never got to write anything. I think a reunion upstate is a great idea. I went up to Fleischmanns this past weekend with a friend, and what an interesting and great time I had. There is very little left of the Camp as we knew it, with the exception of the Name, all the houses are named "Camp Tarigo #__" and then there is the lake, the flag pole, the rec hall chimney, some old basketball and tennis courts, the grounds and one million memories. It was very inspirational. I look forward to seeing old familiar faces next Aug. and hope to go back to Fleischmanns that weekend. By the way, Bobby and Steven send their regards. P.S. to Barbara Pinsky, if you want to speak to Debbie Seaman, give me a call and I will give you her number. 212 962-1914.

I remember going to the movies on Wed. nights. We would wait for the boys to come pick us up at our bunks. And walk down that long, winding, dark road. I remember the circus in Margaretville. I remember going on raids at night.I remember going down suicide ill in between bunks 5 and 6, and up the swim trail to the senior lodge. Sadie Hawkins day was always fun. Walking to the infirmary was the worst. Remember Archery and Riflery? When we were Seniors we used to sneak out on the roof of the main building. n our days off we once used to hitchhiked to Woodstock. Of course on the day I decided to do it I had to get picked up by my Aunt Elaine. Dorm Days were alot of fun. Robyn Frye had her Santa Claus hat on and she and her elves would sneak down to the cant en and kitchen to bring back food.Roni Kipnis used to get the biggest packages.I love hearing and running into old camp friends. When I meet someone from camp that I haven't seen in years we speak as if we spoke to each other just yesterday. There's something very special about our "Tarigo Bonds". Does anybody have a picture of the main house?I remember in the girls dining room there used to be this one counselor who used to get up on top of the table and sing but I don't remember her name or what song. It might have been "Let Me Entertain You". Beverly Schwimmer and I loved sharing a room with Lori and Karen besides being great friends with them they had the best clothing to share.I speak to Randy Klein and Beverly Schwimmer all the time.Whenever I hear Carol King and James Taylor songs I think of the dorm.Whenever I hear Grateful Dead songs I think of Robin Berkowitz. She played them 24 hours a day. Then there's the Eagles-Stuie Allen.Bye Bye Birdie Faye Kravitz.Peter Pan-Susan Glatter.Carol Meltzer when her dad followed the bus up to camp to give her the pillow that she forgot to bring. We all laughed so hard. Amy,Lori,Lori,Karen,Annie,Randy, Faye,Robin,Robin,Judy,Ellyn,Barbara,Beverly,Janie, Susan,Stacey,Roni and anyone else that I forgot I hope we can all see each other at the reunion. And one last note-I visited Tarigo July 98.All that's left of the rec hall is the fireplace. It stands in the middle of nowhere.I climbed onto it and took a picture.Hope to see you all at the reunion.

Although my kids are too young to be going off to college, I wonder if there will be some families that will be unable to attend the reunion on that date since they will be taking their kids to camp. I would like to suggest some hotels in Westchester. T ere is the Rye Town Hilton, in Rye New York which can accomodate well over 350 people in their ballroom. It is also a lovely hotel for those that would be coming in for the weekend and it is in close proximity to the New York Metropolitan airports. It s also a convenient location for those people in Westchester, Fairfield County Connecticut, and even Northern New Jersey and Long Island. There is another resort that I think is called Arrowwood. It is also located somewhere in Westchester. Well those are my thoughts for today.

It's great to see so many people remembering "the place where clouds drift and friendships remain." Those were such wonderful summers, even though (to respond to Cash Cohen's question) I don't recall lox being served at the milk bar on Sunday mornings. do remember how great it was to sleep late on Sundays and stroll to the upper campus in pajamas and robes for breakfast al fresco. I think the list of commonly held memories of sight and sound associated with every inch of the campus could fill a hard d ive. The dining hall and singing during meals, "dedicated to...", the frantic scraping sound of chairs being pulled away from the table after the "motzi" was recited, "smile and the world smiles with you..", etc., etc......And yes, on occasion, just befo e they have fallen asleep, my two daughter have heard it softly sung: "We're the Turks from Constantinople......" Enough already. Thanks Rick for starting this. By the way. Were any plaques and/or photos saved from the demolition of the Rec Hall?

Hi friends: I started out in Bunk K in 1966; my bunkmates were Bruce Pomerantz, Ken Vecchione, among others; counselors Nardie Levine, M. Herz. I remember the walks down to town on Movie Night with a certain someone. Also, was that the year Pinsky made u paint the rec hall as an activity? Then I slept in Bunks L, M, Senior Lodge, Waiters' Bunk (what a racket, we worked for nothing!), a stint as a counselor myself in Bunk K (my earlier graffito still on the wall). I now live on the Upper West Side of Ma hattan with my wife, Pam, and kids Sam (7) and Sara (5). I work for a non profit doing criminal appeals for indigents; I also write a weekly law column for the web site of The New York Times. I saw Pomo recently. He's the same. I miss everyone else. y brothers and sister are also alums: Dean lives in Great Neck, works for CBS. Brad is an oral surgeon in Rhode Island. Sister Niki a lawyer in New York. I, too, visited the camp ruins a few years ago with my wife, and tried to describe to her the world that once existed there. But it was difficult for her to imagine. It made me think how little anyone can really know about the past from just studying landmarks, pictures, etc.

Unless the Ski-doodler I operated can be considered an island. The T was burned in a clearing across the lake a little to the right of the Pump House. This was also a p ace where counselors would have campfires. I have some group pictures and some other photographs that I will scan and send. I'll even send one that includes Bruce Pomerantz. Joel

OK heres the story: I guess it was the first five minutes of freshman orientation in college. I was staring at this girl, and she said, "Guess my name." I did, and I got it right. I asked her the same question. She said, "Randy". Cool, thinks me, wa cooler than Harry. OK, I like this. She introduced me to her friends, and their friends, and I got REALLY comfortable, made no denials, and registered the next week as H. Randy R. Ive been Randy ever since. My family liked it right off, since I ever had a middle name on my birth certificate. My friends liked it, and to the great girl whose name I can no longer remember: Thanks. I havent heard anything but Randy in these endless years. But back at Tarigo, where Ive also been "Rack," "R B ar," and of course, "Scribe", you can call me what you like. Night after night I walk down the path between Iroquois-Mohawk and Mohigan-Navajo. I see the rabbits of the Nature Hut, the fires of Wakanda, the sleepovers of the Indian Village, my god how I miss you all. I was in shock to learn Tarigo was torn down; or months I grieved like it was Uncle Pacys accident again; dear Gladys, Teddy, Minna, Dave, Robert, Michael. Scratchy bugle records were stuck in my dreams: the bulldozers were downing Radcliffe and Bryn Mawr as we ran down the rain-beaten path to the ain House for one of the wilder of Lou and Bells breakfasts. Our days, not just the special days of other kids childhoods, but OUR Tarigo days. Yeah, our Tarigo. You read about absolute love, but at Tarigo, we had it, we knew we had it, and we went back for more. To Pacy, campers could do nothing wrong, and wha we did wrong, he forgave us with white-haired endearment; the perfect grandpa. As you remember, too, if you were a counselor not loving a camper, Chief White Eagle roared; justifiably so. And The General, Mike Buckley, a schedule to keep, children to ducate. I dont think any of us knew how to handle Pacys accident. We were too young. Tarigo was too good. I continue to search for Tarigos in my life, in work, in friends, in loves. I once had a wonderful dog. His name was Tarigo, too. Our special Tarigo feelings go well beyond age, sentimentality and prevailing Jewish sappiness. We had something unique in the human experience. We knew it then. We know it now.

I just finished reading everyone's comments, and I hope that everyone is serious about a reunion because we all shared such great memories at camp. By the way, the last year the camp was open was 1976. The camp closed in 1977 because BORIS, the new owner from Venezuela, was shot and I believe all the campers signed up attended Camp Trupin instead.

Married, wife Sue, with two kids living in Boca Raton, FL. Matthew 11 and Daughter Ricki 8. Both just returned from summer camp at Brookwood, Glen-Spey N.Y. They love sleep away as much as we did. I'd like to add two more names to the list of girl campers. The first camper is my sister Lori Edelstein. Her married name is Ratner. She lives in Stamford, Connecticut with her husband Stuart and their four children. She attended Camp Tarigo beginning in 1966. I'm Terri Edelstein Griggs. I attended Camp Tarigo for only two summer, 1966 and 1967. My first summer was spent in the new Bunk 7 that was under construction. The second summer I spent in the Senior Dorm. I live in Montvale,New Jersey with my husband and four children. For the record, Camp Tarigo had another alma mater. My couselor had written it. It was called Summers at Camp Tarigo. I'm not sure if it was written during color war when the Texas Rangers were up against The Gold Banditos. I'll E-mail you when we remember all of the words to the song. My E-Mail address is TS [email protected].

So glad that Jackie Shenkman Malen passed on this information to me. It is so much fun looking at the names of so many people from my past who meant so much to me. I currently live in Stamford, CT with my husband Stu, and our 4 kids (Evan, Steven, David & Haley). The answer to "Izzy" Einberg's question was that he was named for Izzy the man who cleaned the toilets. That had to be back in 1966 or 1967. If you're looking for other names from the past, where are Lori & Karen Goffner and Annie Gruber? I th nk it would be a lot of fun to get together how about a renunion in the Hotel that we always had our renunions at the one on 34th Street in Manhattan. Regards to all, hope to get an e-mail address soon.

The real estate developer told me at the time they were going to keep it standing for the homeowners. S rry to hear it's gone. Great to see messages from the old-timers. But I have a question ... I was so young back then. My parents Al & Elaine worked at Camp. I think their jobs included Camp Mother, Cook, and running the Canteen. Do you remember whom you bought your candy from??? I started camp at the ripe old age of 4 (maybe 3) and stayed on u til 77 (I think). I know we took the summer of 76 off to drive cross country. I think I must have really hated camp when I was a kid. I couldn't spit without hitting a relative and my parent's had spys all over the place. It's probably the only way I sur ived, I was always getting into trouble. I remember names like Pugsley, Izzy, Neg Nord Nud, Alpha Pie Epsilon, and Hardly Matters. Regardless of what I thought then as a child, I know I loved my summers at camp (although I wish there hadn't been so many r latives there :) ).

My brother Warren and I found your website over the holidays. We were at Ta-ri-go from 1961-1965. We are in touch with the Hudesman brothers (Joel, Alan, and Mark) who were also there from 1961-1965. Let us know how your plans for a reunion progress.

I was in alot of the musicals there-that's how I got out of playing sports and swimming. Camp life there was the closest thing to going into the army that I ever experienced. Hope there's enough for a reunion.I visited the camp just a few months ago.

This is just a test to see if it is working. But you can use this as an example. You can use the URL line for your homepage. Good Luck!
