Why Christians don’t celebrate Halloween

I Corinthians 12:2  Prior to salvation we were pagans, but now we belong to Christ.  We are new creatures in Christ Jesus, so we no longer celebrate pagan holidays.  I Peter 4:1-4

Since, we now belong to Christ we follow His example and strive to live without sinning.  Jesus died on the cross to pay for our sins.  We never should intentionally trample under foot the Blood of Jesus Christ.  We need to avoid practicing pagan and satanic traditions.

I Corinthians 10:21; I Corinthians 6:9-11  Notice, “such were some of you”, past tense.  We are no longer practicing the evil deeds of the lost, but we are serving God now.  As Christians, we are to be conformed to the image of Jesus Christ and not to this world.  Romans 12:1,2

The origins of Halloween are in ancient Celtic religion of Druidism.  Druidism is very similar to modern Satanism.  The Druids believed that at the end of fall or autumn on October 31st (by the Gregorian calendar) that one year ended and the next year began.  They then worshiped Samhain or as we refer to him Satan.  They believed that at sundown on Halloween that the spirits of those who died that year would come back to play “tricks” on them.  They sought to ward off these spirits by offering them food and drink or “treats”.  The Druids would, also, build bonfires on top of hills and offer human and animal sacrifices to appease the Druid deities.   The Roman Catholic Church tried to make this Pagan holiday a Christian one by changing the name in the late 800’s & throughout the 900’s AD.  Halloween was and still is a Pagan holiday.  Modern day Satanists celebrate the day and May 1st as there two special days, both generally involved human or animal sacrifices.  Deut 18:10-12 & Galatians 5:19-21

Deut 12:28-30  We must be careful to not allow the Pagans to influence our devotion to God or our worship.  For example, Pelagianism is based in Paganism.  Humanism is based on Pelagianism and its glorification of man.  We must not allow Humanism to influence our way of worship.  We, also, must remove all Pagan holidays from things we celebrate.  We now belong to Jesus Christ and are not to be practicing the sinful ways of the world.

The modern day Halloween involves people teaching their kids it is okay to dress up like devils, demons, witches, etc. and go around practicing trick or treat like they were a Druid.  As Christians, we can not serve God and observe Halloween which is a work of darkness.  We are children of the Light, so we must walk in the Light as He is in the Light.  The reason why we Christians do not celebrate Halloween is just that, we are Christians.  We have been bought with a price and we are not our own.  We are not Pagans, Satanists, or Roman Catholics, we are Christians.  We must come out from among them and be separate and touch not the unclean thing.  Will the world persecute us for taking a stand? Yes.  Jesus was perfect and they crucified Him.  Don’t expect anything less than a little persecution when you dare to stand up for Jesus.
