Doctrine of Salvation
Lesson 3

Purpose of  lesson:  To show that the plan of salvation was before the foundation of the world and out of love for the world.  Salvation is all of God and not of man.

Review:  Man is totally depraved, dead in his trespasses and sins, unable to save himself.  Man is deserving of his coming judgment of hell fire for having rejected God and sinning against God.  God is not under any obligation to man to redeem him.  Man through his own actions has placed himself on the road to destruction.  The unregenerate man without God has destined himself to an eternity in hell.

The plan of salvation that God created was created out of love.  John 3:16, 17.  I John 2:1,2  Jesus the Son of God is the propitiation for sin.  God sent His Son to die for us out of love.  I John 4:9-11,  I John 4:19, I John 3:16, Ephesians 2:4,5  Love is the reason behind the plan of salvation.

The plan of salvation that God created was created before the foundation of the world.  Ephesians 1:4 , Matthew 25:34  I Corinthians 2:6-9,  2nd Timothy 1:9 , Titus 1:2, Revelation 13:8.  God knew that man would fall into sin, before He ever created the world.  God created the plan of salvation out of love before ever creating the world.  God put in place the plan of salvation before man ever fell into sin.  He has everything under His control and under His own plan.

Christians are the few, the humble, the chosen.  John 15:16.  We cannot honestly think that we have chosen God. God has chosen us.  When we came to salvation, who was it that was convicting us of our lost estates?  Not us, but God was convicting us.  Who gave us the power to be saved? Romans 1:16, I Corinthians 1:18, John 1:12, 13.  God gives the power to be saved.  Ephesians 2:8,9.  Salvation is the gift of God.  We who are saved were chosen by God to receive His gift of salvation.  When a gift is given who decides who gets that gift?  The giver or the receiver? The giver chooses whom to give the gift to.   Thus salvation is all of God and not of man.  Some teach that man
chooses God, but the Bible teaches that God chooses man.    Since it is all of God and not of man that should humble us and make us realize the awesomeness of God.  If God did not do the calling or choosing then no one would be saved. Romans 3:10,11.  God seeks out us, we do not seek out God.
