QUORTHON INTERVIEW - SHEOL METAL 'ZINE

"Yeah, because otherwise it`s just gonna be a lot of image talk and “Oh… Bathory`s gonna make an album about King Kong” or “Now they`re back into the viking roots” or, you know, that kind of bullshit… and they treat a record as a package of image…instead of a record… for the music. And so in order to try to prevent having people making  up their minds about something before they even hear it…"

Sheol magazine interviewed Quorthon back in 2004 around the release of Nordland. This is probably the most in depth Quorthon interview I could find. This interview covers everything from de-bunking all the crap rumors surrounding BATHORY, downloading albums for free, to even Vanilla Coke! Mmmmmm.......

- "“I want to have that music, but I can`t pay for it. Why don´t I wait until I have the money to pay for that music and then I can enjoy that music with my whole heart!” Instead of sitting in my  little shitty apartment, thinking ”Oouuh, I downloaded it for free!” And you`re sitting there, and you`re enjoying it for free, but the person who gave you that art, you´re robbing him of his life stock… of his art, you´re stealing his art! Just because you don`t have the money that it takes to buy one CD… well, look in your apartment, you probably have 200 or 300 CDs  … if you don`t buy that Hamburger or those sneakers or go to see that movie… save your money! And then buy that CD! Don`t steal it from the person who wrote the music and recorded it!"

You can read the rest of the interview at this link. Very cool interview.

Here are some words of wisdom:

"You only get one life! You have to have fun all the time! Otherwise you`ll think about Erich Honecker, or the high taxes, or the EU… so you need to have a lot of fun every day, otherwise you just prepare yourself for the grave! Which is a very good topic for a lyric, preparing yourself for the grave. But I don`t think a lot of people would understand the reasons, why you shouldn`t prepare yourself for the grave… you know… have a laugh on a daily basis!"
