Listening to Callas, one realizes the differences between theatre and opera, bel-canto and verismo, Mozart and drama. Differences that Callas in her UNIQUE way unifies, brings them to a total, that no other singer before her - in recording history, or aft
r could equal. No "nightingale", Callas, with her unique voice and timbre does not sing a role, she LIVES it to the extreme, in a way that any other singer sounds boring or uninteresting, never mind the beauty of voice or the breath control and technique.
Her LEGACY is a clear one: how opera SHOULD BE INTERPRETED. Only properly sung, is not enough.
