This is Zachary and Jacqueline enjoying a meal of ravioli, sweet potatoes, apples and mango. Poor Zachary doesn't know these are the last solids he will be eating for a while. He also doesn't know that his last bottle is fast approaching! |

What'd ya' mean I'm not going to be able to put my fingers in my mouth after tomorrow?! What's going on here?! Why's everyone so tense? |

So today is the day palate repair is scheduled. We had to be at NYU by 6:00 in the morning. Surgery is scheduled for 7:30 AM and Zachary is to also get tubes in his ears. This is Zachary relaxing with his Dad. |

I just LOVE the happy juice that's given before surgery. Daddy seems to be getting quite the kick out of Zacharys "altered" state! Mommy's on the other side of the camera in her paper scrubs |

So here we are, one week to the day from palate repair. This boy has decided to go on strike and not drink. Mom finally loaded his milk with Ovaltine and suddenly the boy was thirsty. Oh well, we'll change that after the recovery period. Zachary's appetite is back to normal. He's eating 3rd food baby foods and very soft stuff. |

Look at this poor baby! At the last minute before surgery, Dr. Cutting had a hunch the cartilidge in Zachary's nose may have separated sometime after initial lip repair. He decided to go in and take a look. Good thing, that's exactly what happened. He joined it all back together, plus palate repair, plus ear tubes. I think we're in for a looooong haul w/ this recovery! |

Waving bye-bye for a couple of years. This is our last visit with Dr. Cutting following palate repair. Zachary is still too young to know the enormity of what NYU has done for him. |

Today is July 7, 2005 and I'm pretty much getting back to my old self. The swelling in my nose is going down and I have two teeth now. Mom can't wait until I can eat real solid food, she thinks I'm too skinny. |

A before and after picture. The one on the left was the day before surgery and the one on the right is 12 days post-op (palate closure, ear tubes, & nose revision) |
