| My Teaching Philosophy |
| I believe that wanting to teach Middle School students is a choice that very few decide to do, because of the many things that the students gothrough. In Middle School, the student are learning about themselvesand trying to figure out where they fit in and why certain things are happening to them. I think that Middle School is a very complicated time because this is where the students begin to develop mentally and physically; therefore, many try to grow-up before it is time. Middle School teachers must understand that there may be a lot of things going on in these students lives, so they must be effective teachers in a way that will allow the students to learn and feel comfortable with their surroundings. I decided to go into the teaching profession because I love to work with children and I enjoy knowing that they are learning about things that they will need later on in life. Deciding to teach Middle School students was not a hard decision for me because I know that this is a time when students really need for someone to be in their corner and give them the opportunity to shine. Many times there are things going on in a childs life that no one will ever know about, but with that thought we as teachers must be prepared to deal with certain issues. I believe that a Middle School teacher should be consistent with their teaching and ideas, be understanding, reliable, trusting and patient. A Middle School teacher should be one whom the students can come and talk to about school and life without feeling like the teacher will use anything that is said against them. I believe that a teacher can put forth to the class that they can be a friend and a teacher, but the main goal is to give the students information that they can use in higher education. I hope that when I become a teacher that my students will respect me as their teacher and as their friend. I want to help students to the best of my ability, because I know that this is the time when they are trying to find themselves. |
