There is a "new" page with some pictures. I have now identified the folks in Gibsonville, North Carolina as Clarence Matkins and his wife (whose name I forget. You can see their pictures by clicking here.

I have just located an address file from 1987 showing Matkins then known to be in England, Canada and the USA. It will take some editing after converting from WordStar 2000, but please check it out and send us up-dates and additions! Addresses

Robert E. (Bob)Matkins of Butte, Montana founded the Matkins 
Information Center after he began cataloging ancestral information on 
various Matkins families several years ago. He accessed files from the 
Mormon records in Salt Lake City, Utah as well as information sent to
him by various interested parties. Charles D. (Charlie) Matkin of New
Orleans was an early contributor, and having some experience building
web pages, offered to help put us on the internet.

The earliest records found went back to England in the early 1600's. Then,
by chance, Charlie had a conversation with a man from Russia who said the name
is very common in the Ukraine. About the same time, he received a copy of
a newspaper quoting the director of a trade mission from Moscow who was
named Yuri Matkin. Contacting the Russian embassy in both San Francisco
and Washingtion, D.C. proved fruitless. It has since been learned that many
russians came to England during the time of Peter the Great. 

There is a "coat of arms" which is alleged to belong to the Matkin clan.
We hope to show that on the web page soon.
