FOREWORD
This is one of a series of Genealogical Research Notes on the Matkin(s) family
lines in North America and England. The purpose of these reports is to
catalog or group together the descendants of each immigrant Matkin(s) ancestor
to North America, that is, the United States and Canada. In this note, the
family of J C Matkin of Mississippi is identified.
The Matkin(s) Information Center (MIC) is collecting and researching addi-
tional family connections to this family line. As information is received and
reviewed, frequent updates are made to this document. MIC has available the
most up-to-date issue of this Research Note and will provide copies of it upon
request. To cover cost of reproduction and postage, a nominal charge of one
to three dollars ($1-3) depending upon the number of pages is made. Contact

INTRODUCTION
This research note lists the descendants of J C Matkin of Mississippi.
This issue of this research note contains 12 names in four generations of this
line of the Matkin family. The distribution of family members identifed in
each generation shows:

The numbering system used provides a quick way to show each descendant's
connection to the other Matkin's family members in this line. The number is
in two-parts. The first number (before the dash) is the generation number.
Number 1 is assigned to the earliest identified member to this line. In the
11/28/86 issue of this line, J C Matkin is assigned generation number 1. The
generation numbers increase to cover all known generations in the line.
The second number (after the dash) is the individual number. A different
number is assigned to each descendant in the line. First generation members
have one digit, individual numbers. Likewise, second generation descendants
have two digit numbers, third generation has three digits, ets. The
descendants are linked by a common portion of the number. Descendants from
the same first generation member have a common number in the first digit of
their individual number. Likewise, descendants from the same second
generation member have the first two-digits in common in their individual
number. A careful look at the listing by family connection will help clarify
the numbering system.
