THE FAMILY LINE OF GEORGE W MATKIN
FOREWORD
This is one of a series of Genealogical Research Notes prepared by the
Matkins Information Center (MIC) on the Matkin(s) families in the United
States, Canada, and England. The purpose of these short reports is to catalog
or list all known Matkin(s) family members. A separate report is prepared on
the earliest known ancestor in each line. When these early ancestors are
connected with other lines, their reports are combined.
This report, initially issued on 16 November 1986, covers the family line
of George W Matkins who was born about 1858 probably in Missouri. The family
of this George W Matkins lived in Missouri, Nebraska, and Montana between 1858
and 1986. On 27 April 1987, the report was revised to include additional
Matkin families living in Shelby County, Missouri, who may be connected to
George W Matkin. Issue Three was initiated on July 26, 1987.

THE FAMILY LINE OF GEORGE W MATKIN
INTRODUCTION
1. The family line of George W and Lucy Helen (Squires) Matkin presently
covers three generations. These begin with George W Matkin, (1858-1927),
continue with his son, Roy Matkin, (1881-1971), and end with grandchildren,
Asa Leroy, Eva Irene, and Margaret Marie.
2. George and Lucy Matkin were living in Shelbyville, the county seat of
Shelby County, Missouri, when son Roy was born in 1881. Roy Matkin and
Dorothy Barker were married in Inavale, Nebraska, in 1902. Their children
were born in Inavale between 1903 and 1909. Roy died in Great Falls, Montana,
in 1971 and Dorothy died in Choteau, Montana, in 1969.
Asa Leroy Matkin died in Fairfield, Montana.

Roy Matkin was born in 1881 in Shelby County, Missouri, the oldest child
of George W and Lucy Helen (Squires) Matkin [1]. Roy married Dorothy Baker in
1902 at Bethany, in Shelby County [1]. Shortly after they were married, they
moved to Inavale, Nebraska. They had three children while living at Inavale.
These children were: Asa Leroy (born 1903), Eva Irene (born 1906), and
Margaret Marie (born 1909) [1].
Roy died in 1971 at Great Falls, Montana [1]
