I absolutely hate what happened next. Time was going so fast. There were miles of unknown good stuff  below Catherine's and I wasn't going to be able to check it out. I popped out on the MS 24 west of Woodville. I'd always wanted to check out Fort Adams. It has an unbelievable history. The Right of Passage over the lands of the Cherokee Indians for the Natchez Trace was signed there by CC Claiborne, first governor of LA. I was right there and just couldn't because I hate night driving and its dangers. I even zoomed through busy and thriving Woodville. I'd been there on a Sunday and the sidewalks were rolled up, not so that day. There could have been some great pictures. I even saw Jimmy at his full service gas station. Damn it. Sorry kids, it just came out.
I will go back and it will be on a Friday when everyone is smiling and all hell is breaking loose cause everyone is headed for the weekend.  Timing is everything and demographics play a big part in that timing equation when you are dealing with people which I usually don't but Woodville is something special. It's Old South Unspoiled, an amazing place. If you are planning a St.Francisville trip, I'd suggest staying in one of the B&B's in Woodville as a part of that trip. There is wine and then there is fine wine. Woodville's cap doesn't screw on.
I got to St.Francisville, down La.10 through old Bayou Sara to the Ferry that takes you to New Roads.
To see some of the backoads area below Woodville, check out the Tunica Trip.
You are now on a part of "Disappearing Louisiana". It is so sad.
The state flag attempted a good front, but I knew it was sad, also.
This scene cannot be replicated unless you have a ferry.

Can you see where we goin' @, cher?
That's the New Roads Landing. New Roads is not on the river anymore, but was. Human intervention caused the river to cut the river's meander and leave New Roads on an oxbow lake, appropriately named, False River. Lots of rides in that area HERE
This parish is named Pointe Coupee. I bet you can figure out the French and apply it to what I just told you.
And, Patoot, it's just 60 miles from the house.
