I pulled into Ville Platte and decided to roam around a little. US 167, southbound, is where the main downtown is located. It is full of old buidings. Just a few below.
Check out the mural or the remains of a mural on the building below. I will bet it was a hardware store originally.
David had made me happy with his appreciation of the old warehouses I pictured in Church Point. I found Railroad St. which I felt would lead me to maybe a few more old stuctures. Indeed it did. Of course now I feel the pressure of a possible Warehouse Bubbas Group. There might even be a "Warehouse Pictures Collectors Association" The "WPCA" does have a ring to it. That sounds familiar. I wonder if I belong to it?
They are great old buildings. The new support blocks lead me to believe they have recently been saved.
The line is still active here, I think. The warehouses, at one time, did serve the rails. I didn't look closely, but I think the old doors have been covered over or the buidings were turned around to face the street? Naw, that was dumb.
A lttle further north I found the prize. This had to have been the Ville Platte station or an office of the railroad. It is being restored or was in that process recently.
It is on new supports. It has a freight door. I hoped to see "Ville Platte" hanging on a sign from the building, but it was gone, if ever there.
Below, is just another angle. I may start a movie site to accomodate what I want you to see.
Across the tracks was a raised flat platform. What it use to be is a mystery to me.
