September 6, 2006 - Hello everyone, this is the last update. As most of you know Charlie passed away on August 31, 2006. It was very peaceful and I was there holding his hand. I know I haven't updated in awhile but as you can imagine I was busy. On Agust 11th we took Charlie by ambulance to Ann Arbor as he had excessive bleeding in his mouth and he was still running a temperature. All sorts of tests were run and we found out he had a blood clot in his left leg from behind his knee to his ankle, he also had a small one that went to his lung. A procedure was done that put a filter in the vein to catch any blood clot that might break away from his leg. The doctors kept telling us that the bleeding couldn't be coming from cancer because it was way too soon for it to be back in his mouth. After tests were run we were told that yes the cancer was back in the right side of his mouth but had also moved to his lungs. This is terminal and without treatment it was a matter of time but with treatment Charlie might survive a couple of years. As you now know Charlie opted to not have treatment and all he wanted was to go home. So we took him home and spent some quality time with him. We will miss him!!!! Thanks to everyone for stopping in, bringing food and drinks, coming to the "standing room only" funeral, for the thoughts and prayers, all the cards. We cannot say thanks enough! We love you
