OPERA MATTERS

Being the bad guy, the Villain, requires more than a passing knowledge of how to tie the damsel to the railroad tracks, or using dowsing to find out what the forces of good are planning so you can frustrate them.  It requires attitude, knowledge and a sense of personal superiority.  You have to see yourself as being better than everyone else for the simple reason that you are.

This means you have to act the part.  You have to make being one of the elite of the world a part of your personal lifestyle and the choices that you make about that lifestyle.  In other words, you need style, a style that will set you apart from the slobbering bulk of worthless humanity.

I cover a lot of this in my Psionic Psupervillain, so if you don't have a copy of that, get one.  You will never regret it.  And now we return you to our regularly scheduled commentary.

One of things you really have to think about is your taste in music.  I discovered many years ago that by simply saying that "I hate music," I was able to get an instant response of curiosity, if not respect.  It was so out of the ordinary, so unusual, and so totally elitist that people automatically responded to it and usually in the way I wanted, which is to say they saw me as not being part of the masses, but someone inherently superior.

It works!  And as part of being a Villain is to be an elitist, without shame or apology, it will work for you.

Now, realistically, no one probably hates all music, not even me.  But the choice of music that you listen to reflects something very deep about you and if you are going to be a Villain there are certain types of music that you must learn to love and certain types you must learn to despise, as was those who listen to them.

No true Villain can stand the sound of country music.  It offends the ears and the lyrics offend the mind.  Hip-hop, rap, most contemporary music is to be avoided at all costs, usually with a well-placed sneer.  (Sneering is important, practice it at every opportunity.)

Listen to classical music, especially to opera.  If you do not have a taste for it, acquire it.  And if you must play an instrument, make it an organ or an electronic keyboard that can mimic an organ.  You will find the qualities of the music will influence you to greater and greater deeds of darkness and by separating your tastes from the bulk of mankind, you will find that your work of Villainy will be ever so much easier.

Believe me, I know.
