Do your homework. Don't wait to talk to a lender, know how much of a home you can afford before you start looking.







Get your finances in order and be sure you have enough for the downpayment and closing costs.







Decide specifically what features you want and which are most important to you. How many bedrooms? Garage? Yard?







Are you looking for a starter home? Or more long-term?







Don't be naive. Insist on a home inspection and if possible get a Home Warranty.







Be picky, but not unrealistic. There is no perfect home.







Consider hiring a REALTOR as a buyers representative. A buyers rep works only for the buyer and is typically paid by the seller. These are just the basics you need to think about before buying a home.
