A Writer's Break
A routinely organized desk worker of the day that transforms to wherever her pen takes her after 5 pm...
January 14, 2007 - a loss of respect
To some, losing respect for someone you looked up to is devastating, heartbreaking, and a memory you may never lose.... but today I feel that the worst reaction to that situation is expectation.

Expecting those you trust in and respect to fail you is like taking off your rose colored glasses, throwing them down on a stone, and crushing the fragments into your heal.    It is not simply seeing life "as reality" as much as it is becoming a cynic.

The alternate reality to this though is that life truly can be harsh, but it points us to our need for citizenship in a better place - Heaven to be exact.:-)   Without the conscience God puts in our hearts, the salvation that Christ gives us, and the message that the Holy Spirit opens our eyes to - life IS cynical.  And does deserve to be looked at with disdain at times.  But with the glorious gift of Christ we can have a hope, life gains a purpose, and the goodness of the world shines out as a reflection of His grace.    Life may be reality, but Heaven is the reality to live for and the daily hope to pursue.

Don't give into the pessimistic expectations of a cynic - life still holds the roses and daisies  shining a reflection of Heaven's smile.:-)
