So all the councillors are all a buzz today after the announcemet of the new assetment cap.  This is because the city and some municipalites may have to raise taxes again...and the tax payers are already in a stink about it.

The cap is supposed to protect homeowners from rising tax  bills that come with huge jumps in property assessmets.

Muncipalities use rising assessments to eiter freeze or lower the tax rate, which determines property taxes. This new cap will also limit some municiplites ability to raise the additional tax dollars it needs to meet rising cost.

A comment made by Tory House Leader Michael Baker's saying the new cap will not cost municipalities....is full of crap....you either have to raise the taxes or cut back on services provied (I guess they wont be shovelling my sidewalks this year) or new roads.

Low Income Families will not benefit from this ,as only tree per cent of applicants for the current assesment cap were low-income homewoners. 

After visiting a blog site about my hometown..Shelburnedirt......and reading about what the town has in site for its waterfront mite have something to do with this...but i always say lets make Heritage Districts.   This is a great way to preserve our built heritage for future generations to come....well thats all i have to say for now...i have kittens climbing all over me so i have to go...sorta like their real life jungle gym...ahhaha....Cheers...
