Entry for January 19, 2007

i've been sitting here for a bit listening to Stephen Munoz (more on that later), who is one of my favorite artists available on mySpace. i know many a people like to talk crap about mySpace and, while it is an ever increasingly annoying site that has many reoccuring problems, it is also 100% a great place to hear new music, new artists/bands, etc. the massive amount of unsigned and signed acts on mySpace is staggering, and something not to be lost within the tons of anti-mySpace whining! i've gotten 2 movie deals for my assorted projects through mySpace - so what does that tell you? obviously it's valueable. yeah, it encodes your songs into a lower quality mp3 but - if that is only way some people might find you - isn't something somewhat messed-up more valuable than NOT having it available at all? seems to me the ones with the music available have a greater chance of making something of their unsigned work than those who don't bother. if you don't work at it, you don't get anywhere. maybe some people can take this idea to heart, or they can just continue their sad little complaining about mySpace like every new complaint is some new experience, when in actuality it's being experienced and NOT whined about 24 hours a day, seven days a week.....complain complain - at least people can hear your damn music!
of course there are a few people i used to like (isector land, peoples) who are now setting up to charge for music that was previously available for free, on some stupid new site where the price of each mp3 goes up as the interest in the song rises. to tell you the truth, i think paying for mp3s is straight bullshit! the same people who will charge for their mp3s are usually the ones who complain about how crappy mp3s are - how much sense does this make? i will NEVER pay for mp3s, i don't care what goes down! screw that crappy idea! it's all for sale from people with not only their heads up their asses, but also a selfish tint of feeling that makes them hide and charge for crappy, lameass mp3s - so, so stupid!!!
