Beka's European Vacation
A two week journey, spanning 4 countries!
Thursday, October 25th - Day One: The Journey

My mum, Greg, and I had to be at the airport around 5 am, EST for our 7amish flight to Toronto. It's about a three hour flight to Toronto with no time differences. Then we had to wait a wopping eight hours in the Toronto airport for our connecting flight to London, which is about 7 hours long. With all that, and the time difference, we arrived in London at about 6am on Friday, October 26th.

It was a smooth flight. Well, they both were. And they whizzed by relatively fast. Of course, it helped that the second one was through the middle of the night and thus it was that much easier to nap on the plane. The food wasn't too bad, either. The movies? Ocean's Thirteen [meh] and Beetlejuice [woo!]. And of course, it was colder than all hell in London!

The decievingly smooth journey had a thorn thrown in when we arrived in London, successfully recieved our luggage, and proceeded to the car rentals. We had previously arranged on the internet for a Disney cast-member discounted rental car. When we went to pick up our car, they charged us an extra 500 pounds, to the 200 pounds we had already paid, which we assumed was the car rental fee. So, that brought the cost of our rental car to a rediculous total of about 700 pounds. How many U.S. Dollars is that? The exhange is fluxing at about 1.9 to 2.1. That means it was about $1,400. Our entire savings. Needless to say, we cancelled that bitch! Unfortunately, that means that my Aunt Carolyn, with whom we were already staying with for the two weeks, and was paying for our anniversary trip to Paris, had to be our driver for the whole two weeks, too! Fortunately, she's retired and she didn't mind, but it was a major guilt trip to us.
