Non-govt drivers’ convention

COOCH BEHAR, Sept. 25: First convention of CITU affiliated Cooch Behar District Non-government Office Taxi Drivers’ Union was held at Anzuman School in Cooch Behar on Sunday. Mr Tushar Guha Thakurata inaugurated the convention in presence of delegates who came from different parts of the district. Cooch Behar MP (Rajya Sabha) Mr Tarini Roy was the chief speaker at the convention.

A charter of demands containing nine-point of demands was adopted at the convention. The speakers said that their organisation is an organisation of non-government drivers engaged in government offices. In a bid to get their justified demands fulfilled they are trying to organise themselves under the banner of CITU. Already 130 drivers took membership of the union. The speakers called upon all to bring other drivers into the union to make a stronger organisation. []
