Lions Club of Cooch Behar Greater
COOCH BEHAR, Sept. 4: Lions Club of Cooch Behar Greater (LCCG) organised a workshop named “Quest” on the problems of boys and girls in their adolescence period at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Baburhat near Cooch Behar town today. District chairperson of LCCG Mr Jitendra Mittal was the chief speaker at the programme. Telecom district manager Mr MK Seth, past district governor (PDG) Mr SC Jain and principal of Kendriya Vidyalaya Mr Dulal Bhattachajee too spoke on the occasion.
The programme was organised in a bid to help the school students from the problems of adolescence. President of LCCG, Mrs Dipanwita Roy said that they organised the programme to help the teenagers. In this changing social system the teenagers are suffering from various stress related problems. They have to cope with the competitive world surrounding them. Uncertainty and pessimistic thoughts are pushing them to the dark, and so many of them taking up drugs to evade the real world. The Quest programme was chalked out to extend a helping hand to them to grow up with a positive attitude, she said.
Earlier, the LCCG organised a de-worming, anaemia prevention and eye screening camp at Kanchamari village near Chilkirhat yesterday. Child specialist Dr Binayak Roy and eye specialist Dr DB Sarkar attended the camp. Eye screening of 206 villagers were conducted at the camp. Among the patients with eye problems Dr Sarkar identified 14 persons for operation and the LCCG assured them that they would shoulder the responsibility for the operation. Dr Roy did health check up of 160 children at the camp. The LCCG volunteers motivated the villagers to take up the opportunity of free health check up camp. A number of children of the village were administered with de-worming tablets at the camp.
LCCG sources said that they would organise more such free medical check up camps in different areas of Cooch Behar district in future as they did on earlier occasions. []
