Training on labour welfare and development
COOCH BEHAR, Aug. 25: Cooch Behar Zilla Parishad sabhadhipati Mr Jnanendra Chandra Chanda inaugurated a two-day special training programme on labour welfare and development at Guriahati-II Gram Panchayat office complex in Cooch Behar today. Forty women from economically weaker section of the society and also from unorganised sector came to participate at the camp. North East Development Academy (NEDA) organised the programme in association with Central Board for Workers Education (CBWE).
At the beginning of the inaugural programme, the new CZP sabhadhipati Mr Chanda was felicitated on behalf of NEDA.
Sabhapati of Cooch Behar-I Panchayat Samity Mr Ganeswar Chakraborty, Education Officer of CBWE Mr Ashok Chakraborty, secretary of NEDA Mr Ranajit Deb, Dr SN Sarkar and president of NEDA Mr Shubhankar Ishor were present at the inaugural programme. Telecom District Manager, Cooch Behar, Mr Mahesh Kumar Seth was also present as the chief guest.
In the inaugural programme the speakers opined that more such training programmes were needed to aware the people on illiteracy, superstition and healthcare. Lack of awareness is the main cause behind bride burning cases and other crimes against women, they said. The government alone cannot be able to eradicate the darkness. They hoped that people from economically weaker section of the society would be benefited from the workshops conducted by the CBWE. They said that more such workshops should be organised in rural areas. []
