14 injured in road mishap 

COOCH BEHAR, July 25: 14 passengers were injured in a road mishap in Dinhata today. Among the injured two were shifted to MJN Hospital in Cooch Behar in a serious condition. 

This morning a Tata Sumo vehicle was coming with passengers towards Dinhata town from Chowdhurihat. Near Vekrapul area the vehicle overturned and 14 passengers were injured. They were sent to Dinhata sub-divisional hospital. Among them condition of four turned serious and two of them were shifted to MJN Hospital in Cooch Behar. Police started a probe into the incident. 

DYFI agitation 

COOCH BEHAR, July 25: Members and supporters of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) took out a large procession in Cooch Behar today. Later they submitted a memorandum to the district magistrate of Cooch Behar. They also submitted a memorandum to the chief executive officer of Cooch Behar Samabay Himghar Samity at Chakchaka. 

It may be mentioned here that an Rs 7-crore cold storage of Cooch Behar Samabay Samity is going to be abolished following a directive to lower the height of the building of the cold storage situated at Chakchaka to pave the reopening of air service using the Cooch Behar Airport. 

Supporting and welcoming the move to renovate the airport and speedy launching of air service the secretary of Chakchaka local committee of the DYFI, Mr Ainul Hossain said that the owners of the acquired 85 houses adjacent to the airport in Chakchaka mouza should be rehabilitated. They should get actual value for the land acquired from them. 

In the memorandum the DYFI demanded re-establishment of the cold storage in Chakchaka gram panchayat area. They also demanded grace time to preserve vegetables and potato seeds of the farmers kept in the cold storage till November. Another construction of a unit that is going to be abolished (Jyoti Loomless Weavers’ Co-operative Society) should be re-established in Chakchaka area, they demanded  

Mr Hossain said that they would have to start a massive movement if the authorities fail to pay any heed to their demands.
