Sudhir Pramanik passed away

COOCH BEHAR, July 9: Ex-Sitalkuchi MLA Sudhir Pramanik (78) passed away at a private nursing home in Cooch Behar on early morning of yesterday. He was suffering from cancer.

Though Pramanik had won from Sitalkuchi Assembly constituency for four times, he failed to get CPI-M’s nomination in the last elections. He was a secretariat member of Cooch Behar district CPI-M and a senior leader of the CPI-M’s peasant wing, Pashchimbanga Pradeshik Krishak Sabha. In 1996 he was appointed as the chairman of North Bengal State Transport Corporation.

Yesterday morning, his body was brought to the district CPI-M office and later sent to his residence at Gosainerhat village in Mathabhanga sub-division. The last rites were performed there. State industries minister Mr Nirupam Sen, state land and land reforms minister Mr Abdur Rezzak Mollah, state forest minister Mr Ananta Roy, Cooch Behar Zilla Parishad sabhadhipati Mr Jnanendra Chandra Chanda, ex-tourism minister Mr Dinesh Dakua, district CPI-M secretary Mr Chandi Pal. Cooch Behar MP Mr Tarini Roy and other senior leaders paid their last homage to the deceased leader. []
