Seminar on rural healthcare held at Alipurduar 

COOCH BEHAR, July 2: A seminar cum workshop on “Rural healthcare service” was held at Alipurduar Municipal Hall on Saturday. Holistic Complementary Health Association (HCHA) organised the programme. A large number of rural medical practitioners participated in the programme. 

Alipurduar MLA Mr Nirmal Das inaugurated the programme. Acharya of Society of Complementary Medicine and Family Welfare (SCMFW), Dr Arunlal Sen was the chief guest at the programme. Mr Sadhan Dutta, Mr Madhusudan Roy, Mr Himangshu Sen, Mr Suresh Kumhar and other practitioners spoke on the role of rural practitioners and various problems they have to face regularly. 

During his inaugural speech, Alipurduar MLA Mr Das praised the rural practitioners for their noteworthy role in serving the common people of the society. He opined that these medical practitioners should get adequate training from government primary health centres to treat malaria and other diseases in the remote areas. He mentioned that Alipurduar, Cooch Behar and adjacent areas are known as malaria and diarrhoea prone. The rural practitioners should get an opportunity to take an active role to combat the situation, he opined. 

Dr Arunlal Sen called upon all rural medical practitioners to come out to serve the suffering people of the society voluntarily. He opined that intensive studying is needed to deliver well treatment to the patients. 

Dance performance of Ms Dona Dutta and songs sang by Ms Sristi Mohanto and Mr Prabir Chakraborty added dimensions to the academic programme. []
