Today in Chicago
Our most recent adventures are brought to you here:
Lisa wants to say:

Hi everyone!  So we are just outside of London now, and I have a new motto.  I USED to say "Travel Lightly", but now I say "Travel lightly, WITH laptop wi-fi" (not that I have one of those, so guess my new NEW motto is, "buy laptop with wi-fi").  This is not JUST because it has been difficult to update our website and blog (Heck, we haven't been able to update our webpage in two weeks), but to help alleviate the stress in trying to solidify our travel arrangements in England.   So, I am not sure what the correct cliche is for our recent adventure (what goes up, must come down; for every action there is a reaction; this is too good to be true; etc. etc.), but for all the wonderful hospitality and ease with which we experienced in Ireland, the beginnings of our travels in England proved to be ALMOST the antithesis of all that great energy.  We had to scrap our B&B's here altogether, except for the one we stayed at in Lynmouth, which was lovely, but our B&B guy was a pompous, condescending, pushy ass.  He  bothered me sooo much, we didn't even say good bye or thank you, nor did I leave them a thank you note, which I have done at every place we have been.  At first I thought maybe that is just him being English and "charming", but even the people we met over the weekend assured me that he was, indeed, an ass.  One day, I will laugh at this.

Anyway, since we couldn't make it to Cornwall, we drove back up towards London and stopped in Bath, which Evans thought was really cool.  Originally, we had planned to stay a couple of days there, but that, alas, was not in the cards.  We then drove on and through the village of Avebury, which hosts megalithic stones, much like Stonehenge.  The circle is much bigger than Stonehenge, but not as intact, as it has been damaged over the years by different conquerers and peoples.  The village is built right in the center, and you can walk right up and touch the stones, amidst the flocks of sheep that graze there.  From there we continued West and around the M25 to come into the burrough of Syndham to visit Evans old buddies Steve and Tim, and Tim's girlfriend Joey from Australia.  We were up late talking and the boys caught up in the garden with beer and wine and a lovely dinner and had a wonderful wonderful WONDERFUL time.  So although we hadn't planned on this originally, we are about to head into London for the day and later catch up with the crew and enjoy our last night in England with good friends in a great city.  It is pretty cool how it all worked out, after all.

Tomorrow we meet up with Brie and Tom back in Dublin -- I am sure they are having a great time in Scotland with Tom's Grandma.

More soon, Lisa
