Lisa wants to say: ![]() Yesterday was pretty neat. The drive to Waterford was beautiful, Waterford is pretty (a bit more sophisticated than Kilkenny), our B&B is lovely, AND I got to go to Nine-mile-house, where my Great-great Grandmother lived. It was a Sunday, so not many locals about, but the ONE pub that is operational in the village is run by a wonderful lady named Nora Freaney who grew up there. She said she used to send visitors looking for their heritage next door to a lady who knew every family history in the area, but sadly, the lady has died since and even Nora wished she had thought to ask questions she might never know the answer to. Nora did assure me that the Kennedy family SHE grew up with was quite a nice family and that if they weren't she just wouldn't have said nuthin' about them anyhow. So we had a nice afternoon chatting it up with her and hated to leave, but we were starving and there was nothing open around, being it was Sunday. I thought it would be nice to see the village, but it really was quite profound. People talk about getting in touch with their roots, but I do think it has physiological signifigance, and I am really grateful I didn't miss that opportunity. Thanks Greg, Kay, Joe, and Judy for making sure I knew what little village to stop by, as it is true I would've missed it if I blinked!! This Church (St. Mary's Catholic Church) was originally built in 1805 and is the church Grandma Kennedy was baptised in and attended (right, cousins O'Brien?), as it is the only church near Nine-mile-house, in the next village over, Grangemock. The drive was fabulous. Again, we are so in awe of the actual depth of green here. Being from Oregon, I thought I knew green, but man, this is GREEN! More soon lovelies! Lisa (PS, don't make fun of me TOO bad with the picture Evans posted!) 2007-05-28 17:22:03 GMT

As nice as all the pictures may be, they don't even compare to the real thing. We hope you're ready to be blown away! Lisa and Evans

Mark and Lisa departed this morning, but are going to Nurenberg for a few days first and will be meeting up with us Saturday morning at the Dublin Airport. By the way, would you suggest Traveler's Chercks vs. US currency as back-up? I don't know if they are a hastle to cash in and exchange or not and if there are any associated fees, but I know they are safer to carry around. Looking forward to more pictures (and to getting there of course). --James

No, I think traveller's cheques are more of a hassle than cash. AS long as you don't bring 100's, you should have no problem exchanging them. If you're worried about safety, (and by the way, everyone we've met said the only people to worry about are foreigners,) my friend Peter's advice was to spread out your cash amongst all your different bags and your person, so that if you DO get mugged, or anything happens to one of your bags, you don't loose all your cash. See you soon, Lisa and Evans
