Today is Thursday, and here in Clinton it's sunny and nice outside. A lot has happened lately, or in the past week. I got to come home on Friday for a three day weekend. I was pretty excited about that much time off until I saw what the weather was going to be like for the weekend. It sucked! It snowed and iced all weekend long, and where I live made it even worse. My house is a little outside of town so we don’t get our road salted or plowed until the end of the day. And there are a couple scary hills to navigate before you can even get out on the main road. So I was pretty much snowed in the entire time. But I did get to relax before I had to come back to Clinton on Monday night. That’s another story. Well Robert showed up at my house at about 4 as I was getting ready to go and we got all packed up and left at 5. He mentioned something about getting gas but I wasn’t paying very much attention at the time and I think I said we would when we got into Missouri. Well the first part of the trip was pretty uneventful. When we where about an hour away he said something about getting some food and switching drivers. So we pulled off on an exit and stopped at sonic and switched drivers. When we left I don’t know why but I didn’t think about getting gas or even looking at the gauge. It just totally slipped my mind. In my car there is a little light that comes on that reminds you to get gas. When it comes on, you have about 20 miles to go. Well this van has no light what so ever, it just dies. And it did about 30 minutes down the road. Robert was asleep and it woke him up and he was wondering what the hell was going on. Well we coasted as far as we could but when the van came to a complete stop we were screwed. About a quarter mile ahead of us was an exit. But it was about 8:30 and dark and I couldn’t see any lights from a gas station or anything. So I decided since it was my fault I would be the one to get out and walk and check it out. I got out in the, what felt like below freezing cold, in just my jacket and long sleeved shirt. When I got to the top of the exit I realized why we couldn’t see any lights or anything, because there was nothing there. Well I had no choice at the time but to keep walking and see what I could find. I called Shelley back home to have her look on the computer to try and tell me how far I was from a gas station or something. Being the smart girl she is she also looked up the number to a tow truck service in the nearest town. Well after I walked about two miles I got a hold of the tow service and he said he would bring us some gas. But I then had to walk all the way back to the van. Well we finally got gas and got to a gas station and got to work about an hour late. No one seemed to mind so we were ok. But we did get a little bit of a hard time for running out of gas. I think this is the longest blog posting I have written or will ever write. I know I’m lazy and don’t’ like to read peoples long blog posting so I don’t’ expect anyone to read mine. But it will be nice for me to come back and read later. I like to make fun of myself when I can. 2006-02-23 21:25:23 GMT
