No $yet. Got a call for ALy on the cell & a phone message "I spoke with somebody and I need to talk to you guys about what's going on". Both kids listened to the message. 11:52am from home.
Today was Nick & Jessica's wedding. I was crammed in the back of Tom's car, it was not easy to deal with the panic attck, got to the court house, rode the elevator and felt dizzy. Got a wet, cold towel, went into the "chapel", top to bottom 20 minustes. I hugged Jessica and told her she could call me Auntie now. Ursula said she got misty eyed at the now pronounce you husband and wife. I almost cried twice, but pulled it together. There were 15 of us, Jessica's brother Sergio got there after the I do's but was still there. Afterwards we came to the house for our party. Jessica's family blended in. Her sister is 15 years her senior, almost another mother and was a delight. We decorated as much as we could, white bells, some blue tuille, white & blue balloons. I had white and blue candles lit, it was romantic. We had an unrehearsed toast. We had them cut the wedding cake. We even decorated the toasting glasses and champagne bottle. Nick had mentioned the other day about Jess not being able to have cheese, so I had two lasagnas, (one without mushrooms and peppers), and a plate of plain pasta & sauce. All of Jess's family can't eat cheese so it was a good thing I made the plain pasta. I send almost all of the food home with Nick, I kept some sauce for us, and the bottom layer of the cake...which I will freeze for next Jan 5. Nick & jess weren't trying to make a big deal, as this wedding didn't count, uh duh, yes it does. G gave them $1000, all in fifty's, in between pages of a cookbook Nick made when he was 6. After each page Nick turned, he made comments how he liked that "recipe". After several pages, Jess's eyes got big, seemed like she would cry, Nick got to a page with no $, oh I don't like this one (the bill fell into his lap). The bills in the book was ALy's idea and a great one. Jess went home with her family to "pack". Nick took home his cookbook, LOL, and all the decorations I packed up for him, and the set of toasting glasses. Now tomorrow, he cram into cars again and go to Sergio's in Duarte for another party. Jessica called me Ursula twice and corrected herself "Auntie". I'll say it was sad that Joan wasn't there, but Nick never, IMO, gotten married while she was alive, he was committed to his Mom. g said that Jess's mom wanted to see pix of Joan, G showed her pretty ones. I am looking forward to meeting Lettie's husband (Jess's BIL), he's Lebanese, left Lebanon before he was drafted. We told all kinds of stories, even Mel made a comment how we had new poeple to tell the stories to. And we did. Jess's M&D had a bit of a lnaguage barrier, but we didn't I think it all worked out. See, when Jess's mom saw G with the white hair and in blue, she cried, she looked like her Mom, ahhh...shucks. It was such a huge day. A beautiful, wonderful day... praying for peace.
