Haven't been to the house for a while now. The last news was that the surveyor and the designer were working on a schedule of work for our extension, and we've provided them with details of some of the renovation work we want the pros to do for us as well. That'll all be tendered out in due course and we can then possibly proceed with some building work in the Spring of '08. So they say.
As you can see from the photo the garden has been cleared out. The biggest difference is the new fence, and the removal of the trees from our neighbour's garden. The trunks have been cut up and will be stored ready to be burned eventually. The rest was dragged throught the house and put in a skip. It was amazing how much fitted in the skip, especially when using a chainsaw to cut it all up nice and small.
Meanwhile, inside, the stripping is an ongoing and somewhat onerous task. The doors came back, and they look great. The man who delivered them also delivered the most useful tip; to use a strong solution of caustic soda thickened with wallpaper paste to remove the paint and varnish from the door frames. It is much cheaper and more effective than Nitromors, and has saved a lot of grief. Elbow length PVC gloves are de rigeur though...
