"The Smart Woman's Rules

Beware of bargain sales, unless they are in conservative garments in the highest class shops.

Buy the 'latest' style not freaky things.  Be wary of styles that have been used several seasons.

Be brave enough to walk in the advance parade.

Be careful of the color 'everybody is wearing' in your better clothes if you want your costume to be smart another season.

Select a smart looking saleswoman.  Politely refuse a dowdy one if she approaches you first.  Listen to the smart woman but if your ideas clash with hers, follow yours.

If a garment suddenly thrills you, buy it!  Don't weigh all of its features and spoil your delight - somebody else will buy it.

Unless you buy on 'thrill,' don't buy haphazard.  Buy only the items you have listed.

Economize on quantity; never in quality.

Best buy an expensive hat and a cheaper dress than the reverse.  The hat's the frame for your face.  Men notice it rather than the dress-style - they notice the shape under the dress.  Keep yours slim and the dress won't matter so much.

Shop alone.  If you need advice call a friend after you have seen the several things you like.

When you shop, wear nice clothes.  The saleswoman judges the quality you want by what you are wearing."
