Description:

The CCA is on one hill. You are on another. Kill them all. Don't expect an easy victory, though.
The CCA has LOTS of scrap, and LOTS of pilots, and they're only a few hundred meters away...
You'll start out with your recon force in the flatlands. You've just run into a bomber ambush
and a minelayer is dropping mines in your rear to cut off your retreat, so get away from the
bombers and back up onto your hill to prepare for the coming onslaught...

VERSION CHANGES
This is the second version of Hilltops. The mission has been completely redone, from terrain
to odfs. Hilltops was the first IA level I ever made, and its shortcomings became painfully
apparent to me after I gained more experience with BZ and levelmaking. I decided to redo it,
as I still like the concept - 2 powerful forces opposing each other across a short distance.
The terrain is all new - hill slopes are shallower for the most part (the CCA will have an
easier time getting at you) but the general layout is the same. The scripted attacks are
different, as is the mission start. The big changes are to the odfs and units - the 1st version
used regular BD units, which gave you Howitzers, mortars and MAS Grenades (gasp). This made
it too easy to win, so these things and more are gone. On the bright side, your light tanks
are now more dangerous, with SP-Stabbers and the RocketTank aiName, so they attack like Stolis.
Turrets now have 1 AT-Stabber and turn quickly like MP turrets - they cost a bit more, though.
I noticed in the first version that Scavengers seemed to spend most of their time hung up in
the Gun Tower/S-Power complex (Scavengers are stupid little beasts, aren't they?). So now the
Gun Towers are separated, and powered by Shield power supplies, which are VERY tough, and likely
to survive a heavy attack. Your Constructor can build these also, along with BD Comm Towers.
To be fair, I had to give the CCA these kind of powerplants also, so don't think your usual
tactics against enemy power supplies are going to help you. For indirect fire weapons, you
still have Splinters, and MDM Mortars in the light tanks, and Comets. Comets are probably the
best shot you've got here against those Gun Towers - you'll need a lot of runs, though, with
the attendant risks. I ended up fighting some truly titanic battles in the valley over the scrap
there, and lost a few tanks during the course of the mission while testing. The CCA base is now
a tougher nut to crack, and will take you longer, so you'll be fighting more battles on your
hill as well, which is how I originally intended it to be. You new units should definitely give
you the edge on defense, though. Enjoy, and let me know what you think. Oh, and I moved the CCA
Armory off into one corner, also - be advised, it is well defended...

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
Before you begin, exit Battlezone if it is running.

1) All the files in the zip file need to be unzipped into your BattleZone\addon directory
(folder).

2) Do not modify any of the files in any way! The map will no longer work and/or lose
   multiplayer compatability.

Game Startup
------------
Open up a DOS box, change to your Battlezone directory, and type: bzone hilltops.bzn /nointro
Do not restart the mission from the Escape screen - the mission will not work correctly. You
must exit Battlezone completely and start over. OR: Get the new IA Launcher, a program for
launching IA levels that works just like Battlezone does. You can grab this at dx's Sector Zero
site (http://sectorzero.us) or our clan site (geocities.com/younggunsclan).
