Description:

Commander,
We have another CCA base to eliminate. This mission requires a commander of your experience.
The CCA has taken up a position in a rugged area not far from the Arsia Mons volcano. They
do not have many base structures, but they seem to have heavily fortified the base area. We
believe they are using underground power cables to run their Gun Towers, so do not expect
to see any power plants or Gun Tower signatures on radar. They have set up artillery around
the base, and this will have to be dealt with.

You will have to take the Recycler to a nearby geyser site. You have 2 tanks and a scavenger
to start your base with. Watch out for suprises as you approach the area. A heavy dust storm
has moved into the area, and this will complicate your mission. Airborne particulates will
reduce the visibility range dramatically, and there is electrical activity associated with this
storm as well. You will find that conditions are less than desirable for effective combat.
Another concern is the loss of radar coverage. Heavy storms like this play havoc with our
longer range radars; you will find the range of your tank and bomber radars greatly reduced,
and the production unit radar will be similarly affected. Sky Eye Satellite coverage will be
out as well, which means your Constructor will not build Comm Towers - without a calibration
uplink, they will be useless. This means you will not have much advance warning of enemy
attacks. To help mitigate this problem, we have included the tooling for our new Command Tank.
Under normal conditions its radar will scan out to 600 meters, even in a dust storm the range
should be about 400 meters, the same as a Grizzly in clear weather. It also has a Site Camera
built in, and a special Nav Dropper that will drop radar aware nav beacons. You may wish to
drop some of these around the base, especially near likely enemy attack points. The MUF can
build these tanks, and you will also begin your mission in one. Be careful, the armor on
these units is very light, about the same as the armor on a Razor. You should also be aware
that these Command Tanks are not suitable for use as combat units by regular troops, as the
Site Camera will drain all the ammo from the unit.

Because of the limited radar coverage and the low visibility, we decided to send some
commandos in on foot, to get a geographical fix on the CCA production units. They were able
to report back successfully, and as a result you will see the locations of these units
highlighted on your HUD. This may assist you in your attacks.

Once you get to the geyser site waste no time in setting up a base, you can expect heavy
attacks shortly. Prepare whatever defenses you can. Be advised, the CCA is not using standard
units here, you may need new strategies to deal with their defenses. Good luck, Commander.

Installation Instructions
-------------------------
Before you begin, exit Battlezone if it is running.

1) All the files in the zip file need to be unzipped into your BattleZone\addon directory
(folder).

2) Do not modify any of the files in any way! The map will no longer work and/or lose
   multiplayer compatability.

Game Startup
------------
Open up a DOS box, change to your Battlezone directory, and type: bzone dustbowl.bzn /nointro
Do not restart the mission from the Escape screen - the mission will not work correctly. You
must exit Battlezone completely and start over. OR: Get the new IA Launcher, a program for
launching IA levels that works just like Battlezone does. You can grab this at our clan site:

Credits: Used BZLGT by Slight to clean up the LGT file and get rid of that annoying shadow
cast by the high walls. Credit is also due to Killer Instinct, he is responsible for the
discovery of how to highlight enemy units on radar, this is the first mission I know of
to use this technique; for enemy units, anyhow. Planet palette modified with PEdit, dx
provided the info necessary to modify fog color.
