Description:

Commander, we have a little problem we'd like you to take care of. We recently established
a secret base on the moon for developing and testing our new Red Devil unit. We chose an
isolated location that seemed ideal, as it was far from the battlefields currently being
contested. It also had some previously undiscovered scrap deposits nearby. These deposits
may have been our undoing, however - it seems a CCA scouting party looking for scrap
found the deposits as well, and along with it our testing base. We assume they had previously
scanned the area with long range radar, and were coming back to exploit the find. Our
defenses quickly dispatched the CCA squad, and we assumed that they had not had a chance
to radio back their discoveries. This proved to be a fatal error on the part of the
officer commanding the base.

Yesterday, a suprise airborne assault by CCA commandos and snipers wiped out the base
defenses. This was a surgically precise operation carried out by an elite force. Their
goal was not total destruction, but seizure of the Recycler and Red Devil prototypes. It was
a total success. The CCA now has the tooling for the Red Devil in their captured Recycler.
They have moved a substantial force into the area, and they are building Black Dog units
for use against us as well. We have one piece of luck - a secondary Recycler escaped the
attack and is waiting in a gully to the East of the captured base. We intend to get that
base back at all costs, so we will drop you in with our own commando force, and you will
use that Recycler to build the forces necessary to complete your objective.

To the NE of the captured base the CCA is holding some of the Red Devil prototypes. You will
follow the airborne soldiers in, and when they start shooting it out with the CCA soldiers
guarding the Red Devils, do NOT engage on foot - instead, grab one of those empty Red Devils on
the ground and knock out any CCA units lurking nearby. A secondary wave of pilots will follow
you about a minute later. Watch for them, they will deploy directly into the other Red Devils.
Once your pilots arrive, take your squad and rendezvous with the Recycler. There is a
secondary geyser site at Nav 2, it is undoubtedly guarded and you will have to sweep the site.
Once it is clear, deploy the Recycler, build a base, and take back the Testing Range at
Nav 3. Destroy all production units, nothing must survive. 

Your Recycler can build the new Red Devil as well; do not overlook the effectiveness of
these vehicles, they are among the most potent units you have. The MUF can build a tank
with 2 special hardpoints, plus an SP-Stabber and TAG Cannon, and a Bomber with 2 rockets.
Unfortunately you have no Armory - the CCA has it at the other base, but you can build
SP-Stabbers with the Recycler if necessary. The Red Devil has the name Scout on your HUD,
and replaces the Razor. You will be facing our own units in battle, Commander, do not
underestimate their destructive capacity. You are in for a tough battle. Good luck.

MISSION NOTES:
Just a couple of things here: first, I'd advise you to wait until your soldiers are engaged
before you steal the Red Devil on the 1st part of the mission, if you don't you will likely
lose it. Also, it is good to be facing the empty Red Devils when the pilots come down, there
is a general BZ bug that causes things like pilots/powerups not to go into things if you
aren't looking at them. If this does happen bump the empty Red Devil until the pilot is in.
You may find that the AI tries to take off with your Red Devils, just reorder them to follow
you. You may want to recycle these particular units later, this can be a nuisance once AI
activity ramps up. (not sure why this happens, I put them in as both enemy and then friendly
units changed to enemies, makes no difference). Anyway, you should be able to get the geysers
cleared with them, at least. Finally, keep in mind that your Red Devils have a very short
build time, they are good to build if you are under heavy attack and need replacements fast.
(Actually they are a very good general purpose unit, even good for base attacks in numbers.)




Installation Instructions
-------------------------
Before you begin, exit Battlezone if it is running.

1) All the files in the zip file need to be unzipped into your BattleZone\addon directory
(folder).

2) Do not modify any of the files in any way!  The map will no longer work and/or lose
   multiplayer compatability.

Game Startup
------------

Open up a DOS box, change to your Battlezone directory, and type: bzone avengers.bzn /nointro
OR: Use IA launcher, get this at geocities.com/younggunsclan

Do not restart the mission from the Escape screen - the mission will not work correctly.
exit Battlezone completely and start over.

Credits: Used the Red Devil from TRO here, I hope Team Evolve doesn't mind, I will give them
a plug here, anyway. If you've never played TRO (The Red Odyssey) I strongly recommend you do,
it's a great add on for Battlezone. If you go to www.teamevolve.com, I think they can put
you in touch with someone who can get the game for you. This mission will give you a little
taste of what TRO can be like ;)
