"Need a change Alex my man," Alex Whitman muttered to his reflection. He did too. Today he'd be entering his junior year at high school, and he couldn't spend it pinning away for Isabel Evans. Things between them were and had been over since she found out about her destiny; that she was meant to be with Michael Geurin. Alex got a little angry whenever he thought about it. Destiny had broken the heart of not only him, but his bestfriends, Liz and Maria as well.

"Alex, you'll be late for school! " his mother called, interrupting his thoughts. He quickly finished up in the bathroom and headed to West Roswell High; a land where he was pegged as a loser. It wasn't that he ever really cared about that since he had two amazing friends, it just kept the number of girls who'd date him to a minimum. That is, until Isabel Evans, one of the elite at WRH, was interested in him. Alex parked his car and headed to the quad. He scanned all the faces. Relieved Isabel was no where in sight, but neither were Liz or Maria. So, Alex decided to go straight to his locker inside.

"Alex," a female voice called behind him. He turned around to face Gina Ash. At least that was who he thought it was. Last year Gina had had long hair, glasses, shorter, and a shy cautious quality about her; another person pegged as a loser. However, this girl was much different. She'd had a good hair cut that flattered her face, no glasses; she looked like she'd grown as well, and confidence.

"Gina?" Alex said.

"The one and only," she smiled.

Alex smiled, he was positive it was her. Gina always said that when someone called her. "You look...different."

"I know," she said."I went to visit my sister in New York over the summer and got an entire makeover."

"Well, it was a great one," Alex said. Suddenly he could tell that he was grinning like an idiot.

"Off to class?" Gina hooked arms with him.

"Sure," they started walking. "What did you do in New York?"

Isabel Evan jumped out of her brother's jeep. "Another year at this place," she groaned. Not only was she in a tiny town, but she'd have to deal being around Liz, Maria, and Alex. Alex, who she thought she could have been someone she could open up to.Then they all found out about their true destinies and everything with Alex was over.

"Ready?" her brother, Max asked. He didn't look to happy about going in there either. He'd have to face seeing Liz, his ex-girlfriend even though he was still in love with her.

"To see the people who's hearts we stepped on? Sure why not," Isabel began walking toward to building. Max frowned even more. They entered the school halls, both getting head turns.

"You think Michael'll show up?" Isabel asked.

Max shrugged, "Maybe," he began to turn, "I've got Trig. See you at lunch"

Isabel watched him walk away for a moment the headed to her locker. Hopefully it would in a popular place in the school this year. She put in the code and opened it with ease. She heard two people laughing behind her. Turning to see who it was, Isabel almost dropped her books when she saw it was Alex and...Gina Ash. At least she thought it was. This girl looked much better than dinky Gina had last year. Alex finally saw Isabel and stopped laughing, keeping Isabel's gaze.

"Hi, Isabel," Gina said lightly, "Have a good summer?"

"Not really," Isabel muttered.

"Hi," was Alex could say as he opens his locker. "That's too bad."

"Hey," Isabel smiled. The bell rang and students began to empty the halls.

"I've got Spanish now," Gina said.

Alex shut his locker, "Me too. I'll come with you. Bye Isabel."

"Bye," Isabel said quietly after they'd already left.
