*********

As he watched her from his booth, he realized something he hadn't before. She had the most beautiful smile he had ever seen. He used to think Isabel's smile was perfect, but compared to hers, Isabels smile was nothing. Why hadn't he realized this before? He had known her for so long but only now did she look so angelic to him.

"Alex?" Liz's voice brought him back form his thoughts.

"Oh...sorry I was just thinking."

"Did you want anything else?"

Of course he did. He wished he could just tell her how he felt. 'I want you' he desperately wanted to scream. But no, he couldn't. Liz could not possibly feel anything for him. He was just the geeky friend that Liz thought of as one of the girls.

"No," was all he answered back. As she walked away from the table Alex knew he would never tell her how he felt if he didn't do it now. Slowly he mad his way to the counter, trying to muster up the little bit of confidence he did have.

"Uh Liz, can I talk to you?"

The moment Liz turned to face him, Alex grabbed her and put her mouth against his own. How soft and sweet her lips were, like sugary feathers against his own. It was only then that Alex realized she was kissing him back. Her kisses grew deeper and deeper until Alex pulled up for air. As he looked up to meet Liz's eyes he saw the shock on her face. Was she shocked at what he had done or at how easily she had excepted it? Both Alex and Liz stood silent.

"What's going on?" Maria asked coming from the kitchen. "Hello? Earth to Liz. What's with you two?"

"Nothing," Alex managed to choke out his eyes still fixed on Liz.

"I have to get back to work," Liz finally said breaking eye contact with Alex.

"Yeah, I have some homework to do, Alex replied as he turned and walked out the door.

He had done it. He had gone for what he wanted and Liz had not rejected him. He had made his move.

Alex was overwhelmed with happiness. But knowing his luck, something would eventually end his joy. Yet, he was going to enjoy the feeling while it lasted.
