"Lizzie, It's me... Um, I'm not really sure how to say this but I am leaving. I don't know for how long and I don't know when I'll be back. I'm really sorry I couldn't say good-bye face to face, but you know me, If I did see you, I would never leave, I would just sit there and tell you about all of my problems and it wouldn't help one bit. Lizzie, you're my best friend and I'll never forget you. Tell Mom and Michael that I love them both and always will. Tell everyone I'm sorry. I love you Lizzie. Good-Bye."

Maria clicked her cell phone shut and threw it on the passenger seat next to her. She wiped away her tears and took a deep breath. It was time for her to start over, She had no choice but to leave Roswell. It would be safer that way. Safer for Michael. She thought. Her hand travelled down to her ever so slightly rounded stomach, And safer for the baby.

Maria pulled back onto the freeway and turned on the stereo, she looked into her rear veiw mirror and watched the town she grew up in, slowly dissapear.

6 years later......

"Mommy!, It's time to wake up!."

Maria groaned and rolled over in bed. "More sleep. Baby, Go back to bed."

"Mommy, It's nearly eight O'clock. I have to go to school."

Suddenly Maria's eyes snapped open. Her hand whipped around to her bed side table, she turned the clock to face her, the large red glowing numbers stared straight back at her. 7:59. "Oh, Shit!" She was out of bed in about two seconds flat.

Maria quickly threw on a baby tee and a denim skirt, she turned to face her daughter and was suprised that she was already dressed.

"Bella, how long have you been up?"

The little girl looked down at her 'Power-Puff Girls' watch and then back up at Maia. "Exactly Four minutes and thirty seven seconds."

Maria shook her head but still smiled. God, she was adorable.. "Come on Sweetie, Were gonna be late." As they walked to the front door, Maria saw her reflection in the mirror, her hair. She forgot to do her hair. Maria looked down at her daughter and had an idea. "Baby, can you please do my hair. I will absolutely die, If anyone saw me looking like this."

Maria bent down so she was now eye level with her daughter, With a quick flick of the wrist, Maria's long hair, sat now soft and springy on her head. She let out a small laugh as her baby gave her nose a little wiggle.

"God, those 'Samantha-Genie-Alien powers' really come in handy."

"Come on. Mommy, I don't want to be late. The new teacher starts today." Bella complained as she grabbed Maria's hand and pulled her from the house.

A few minutes later, they pulled up at school. Maria watched as Bella walked into the building, before heading home. She turned the corner and suddenly slammed on her breaks. She didn't seem to notice the jeep that was right behind her until it ran up the back of her small car. "Oh Shit!" She cursed out loud.

She let out a sigh of relief when she saw the small ginger kitten run off the road.

"Damnit!" Maria softly banged her head on the steering wheel a few times, How was she going to pay for the car to get repaired. She silently prayed that she hadn't caused the other car too much dammage.

Her hand reached for the window as she heard the other drivers foot steps approaching her car, They're not yelling. She thought as she wound down the window. Maria plastered her most and what she hoped best smile on her face, the sort of smile made you think, 'Hey, Sorry-I-ruined-your-car,-but-hey,-do-you-really-want- me-to-pay-for-the-repairs.

The driver bent down and looked at her. Maria felt the smile leave her lips and her mouth hanging wide open. She quickly shut it, but to her dissapointment it fell right back open again. Maria was speechless and as pale as a ghost. "Max?" She said her voice quivering and barely above a whisper.

"Maria?" Max asked her back.

Maria stared at him, she didn't take her eyes away until she heard a familiar and angry voice cursing and walking to her car. Maria felt her entire body stiffen as she gripped the steering wheel so tight that her knuckles turned while.

"Maxwell, What the hell's taking so long?, get her damn details and lets go. God, who ever decided women should be able to drive must have been on some type of friggin drugs..." Michael continued to grumble many sexest comments.

Maria could feel her body heating up, her blood beginning to boil. He can be such a jackass. She thought to herself.

Before she could shut her mouth, words began tumbling out. She was too late to stop them. "God, Michael. Shut up! Do you ever stop bitching?"

There was silence.

"Maria?" Michael whispered, He walked over to the window and peered in. Their eyes locked immeadiatly. Maria could see all the emotions that clouded his dark brown eyes, relief, fear, happiness, love and lastly anger.

She braced herself as he began yelling at her. "Why the hell did you leave?! Where have you been all of this time?!, Why did you never call?!, We all thought you were dead!, God, Maria. You're so damn selfish!"

Maria had just about enough of this, and calling her selfish was the last straw. Quickly she pushed her car door open forcing Michael to step back as she got out. "Selfish!" She yelled back. "Damnit Michael, the only reason I left was becau-" Maria's eyes caught sight of the person climbing out of the jeep. She immeadiatly turned and walked towards her best friend. "Lizzie"

Liz stood with her arms outstreched and waiting to hug Maria. "Omigod Maria, I thought I'd never see you again." Liz said as the tears fell down her face.

Maria hugged her back so tight as they cried together. "Lizzie, I'm so sorry, I never meant to hurt you. It was just safer that I did it alone."

Liz finally pulled away. "Maria, Why?, Why did you leave?"

Maria turned and looked at the three people waiting for her answer. She locked eyes with Michael. "Um, not here. Okay. Lets all go back to my place. We can talk there."

Finally everybody agreed and they headed towards Maria's house. She lead the way in her car, followed closely by Max's jeep. On the way home Maria was trying to think of how Michael was going to take the news about Bella. He was going to be furious. What were they all doing here anyway. It was just her luck that the 'Podsquad' would come driving down the streets of her town. They have the entire world of places they could go, but no. They pick the little town that she has lived in for the past six years.

Maria turned into her driveway and stopped the car. She took a deep breath as she got out and walked towards the front door. She looked over her shoulder to see Max, Michael and Liz right behind her. "Um, can you guys wait out here for a minute, I just want to quickly tidy up the place." Maria asked, a little nervously, What she really wanted to do was go inside and quickly hide a few pictures of Bella. She decided that she would wait until they got used to the idea of her, before she introduced them to her baby.

"Not by yourself." Michael said. "You might try and do another runner."

"Excuse me?" Maria asked in shock. "God Michael, I'm not some sixteen year old girl anymore, no one tells me what to do, okay! If I really wanted to leave again, I would have just drove off and left you standing mouth open in the middle of the damn road!- And NOT have invited you over to my damn house. So if I say my house is messy and I want to clean it. I damn well will!"

With that, Maria opened up her front door and quickly stepped inside, She locked the door again and began taking some of the photo's of bella down and placing them in draws. Maria hadn't really relised how many photo's she had of her daughter until this moment in time.

Maria walked into her living room and took down the photo's of her and Michael that had been taken a few years ago, some of which he was even smiling in. Maria had always left some photo's up so Bella would know who her father was, she would often tell her about how she and Michael met and all of the different memories she had of them together. Sometimes at night Bella would make up stories of when Michael would come and take them away to live in a magic kingdom, where she would be a princess. Maria always thought of how much she and Bella were actually alike.

Bella also had her Michael-ness about her aswell. She had his eyes, his lips and his temper. When she didn't like something she would tell you. But Maria wouldn't change a single thing about their baby. Bella was her and Michael. She was perfect.

Maria's thoughts were interupted by the banging on the front door. "Maria hurry up!" came Michaels loud voice. Quickly she spun around in a circle and looked for anymore photo's, Maria was on her way to the front door again when she remembered Bella's room. She ran down the hallway and looked in to her daughters room, She didn't want to lie to Michael, she wanted to tell him with all of her heart that ella was their baby. That he has a daughter. It isn't safe. Her brain told her. Maria sighed as she closed the door. "Not safe" She whispered out loud.

Maria walked to the front door and opened it up. She gave Michael a sarcastic smile, God, he looked good. "Come on in."
