Title: If They Only Knew
Author: Jenn
The Disclaimer & Such: Sadly *sniffle* I do not own Roswell or any of
its characters. Max, Liz & co. belong to Melinda Metz & the United
Paramount Network (You lucky people). All other characters in the story are
mine. But if I had my way I would definitely own Jason Behr ;)~~ ok that's
enuff I'm getting carried away. On with the show.
Rating: R ~ For situations and language
Category: Would you expect anything else? M/L mostly but the gang's
all there. Hey I’m a total Dreamgirl!!
Summary: For three and a half years, Elizabeth Parker has kept a
dark secret from her friends. The real question is if her friends knew her
secret would they all still love her?
Author’s Note:This is a Tess-free Alterna-Roswell. Let’s pretend that
they rescued Max and things went back to what they consider to be normal.
Nasedo did replace Pierce but little Miss Homewrecker Harding died in a car
accident a few years back so technically their destinies don’t exist anymore.
This story takes place towards the end of their junior year (April-May).
Feedback: Greatly appreciated.......I know I still haven’t finished “My
Ain’t That Just An Interesting Twist of Fate” yet but I got the inspiration
for this one and felt compelled to write it. I hope you like it.
Now on to your regularly scheduled fanfic.................

Part 13: When You Love Someone....
Marc stood in the doorway of the room where his young son slept silently.
Jr. was curled up tightly clutching his teddy bear. Suddenly he started
tossing and turning, murmuring lightly. The only discernible word that Marc
could make out was ‘Mommy’. His heart broke. To see his three year old son
going through such turmoil was so sad. Marc wanted to take all his son’s pain
away. But he knew that wasn’t a possibility.
“You okay?”
“Not really Lizzie. I’m a father. It just hit me. I missed his first step, his
first word, and so many other things. He was just dropped in my lap without
warning.”
“I’m sure there were reasons.”
“What could possibly be such a good reason to keep a father and son
separated? To leave the love of your life?” Marc asked his voice full of
anguish. He had spent a great deal of time trying to put Jana behind him.
And out of the blue, she reappears.
“Marc, when you love someone, you’re sometimes forced to make difficult
choices to protect them. Jana was doing what she felt she had to.”
“Including leaving me heartbroken?”
“Yes. I’m sure she was just as hurt as you were, are. She obviously still loves
you if she named her son after you. If she was willing to leave him with you.
That is statement enough of how much she still loves you.”
“I hope you’re right Lizzie.”
“Marc, I’m a mother too. I know how it can be at times. And because of how
much I love Max, I made choices that kept him in the dark. I did what I had
to, to protect him.”
Marc could only nod. Deep down, he was wondering where Jana was. Staring
out the window, he could only hope that she was okay.
“She’ll be okay Marc. When you love someone, you’ll do anything you can to
make it back to them.”
A Hotel in Las Cruces
Jana Montalvo sat on her bed, staring out the window of her 3rd story hotel
room. Hours ago, she had sent her young son to stay with his father for an
undetermined amount of time. It had been the hardest thing she had ever
done, giving up her baby boy. But as the tears slipped silently down her face,
she knew that she had done the right thing. She knew Marc would protect
his son with his life. He was noble. That’s why she had fallen in love with him
in the first place. Why she still loved him.
“Ja, I’m back.”
She turned to see the form of her sleep deprived twin brother walk in the
room. He looked like hell.
“How’d everything go?” Kevin asked with concern as he noted the sad,
distant look on his sister’s face.
“Marc will take good care of him,” was her only reply as the flood gates
opened. Her tears finally allowed to flow freely.
“I know he will sweety. This will all be over soon, I promise. You’ll be able to
hold Jr. again soon.”
“I hope you’re right Kev. I don’t know how much longer I can take being on
the run,” she declared softly as she clung to Kevin tightly.
They had been on the run for the past three and a half years. Every time
they thought they were finally safe, he showed up again. He wouldn’t take no
for an answer. They turned down every offer he had made to them, even a
claim to the throne. It wasn’t worth it. After all signing a deal with the devil
himself usually amounts to suicide.
Suddenly, Jana shot up, her eyes wide with fear.
“Ja?” Kevin asked with uncertainty and fear.
“He’s here.” She said as she stood up slowly and advanced towards the
window. “He found us.”
Kevin hung his head in his hands. “It’s time.”
Jana simply nodded. Yes it was time indeed. It was time for them to make
their final stand.
