Title: If They Only Knew
Author: Jenn
The Disclaimer & Such: Sadly *sniffle* I do not own Roswell or any of
its characters. Max, Liz & co. belong to Melinda Metz & the United
Paramount Network (You lucky people). All other characters in the story are
mine. But if I had my way I would definitely own Jason Behr ;)~~ ok that's
enuff I'm getting carried away. On with the show.
Rating: R ~ For situations and language
Category: Would you expect anything else? M/L mostly but the gang's
all there. Hey I’m a total Dreamgirl!!
Summary: For three and a half years, Elizabeth Parker has kept a
dark secret from her friends. The real question is if her friends knew her
secret would they all still love her?
Author’s Note:This is a Tess-free Alterna-Roswell. Let’s pretend that
they rescued Max and things went back to what they consider to be normal.
Nasedo did replace Pierce but little Miss Homewrecker Harding died in a car
accident a few years back so technically their destinies don’t exist anymore.
This story takes place towards the end of their junior year (April-May).
Feedback: Greatly appreciated.......I know I still haven’t finished “My
Ain’t That Just An Interesting Twist of Fate” yet but I got the inspiration
for this one and felt compelled to write it. I hope you like it.
Now on to your regularly scheduled fanfic.................

Part 11 (Remember Me?)
An Apartment Complex In Las Cruces
A young teary-eyed woman stood at the end of a hallway holding the tiny
hand of her toddler. She bent down to talk to him.
“Now baby. I want you to go to the apartment with the big number 8 on it
okay sweetie?”
He nodded his head as tears slid down his chubby little cheeks. “I will
Mommy.”
“Be good.”
“I know. I have to be good for my Daddy. But I wanna stay with you Mommy.”
He cried.
She engulfed him in a fierce hug. “I know baby. But you can’t. I have to go
away for a little while. I promise I’ll be back.”
“Promise?”
“Yes now go. And don’t forget to give Daddy the note.” She said as she
pushed him in the direction of his father’s apartment. As soon as he turned
the corner she burst into tears. Letting her baby go was the hardest thing
she’d ever have to do. But it was for the best. At least that’s what she
thought.
The Apartment of Marcus Parker
Las Cruces, New
Mexico
It was about ten o’clock at night as Marc begins drifting off too sleep on his
couch.
*RING*RING*
He stumbled off the couch to answer the phone. Who the hell is calling me
at this time of night. If it’s Lizzie, it had better be good.
“Hello?”
‘Marc?’
“Yeah. Who’s this?”
‘I’m Max. Liz’s boyfriend.’
Suddenly, a wave of panic washed over him. “Is Lizzie okay? Is Monty all
right?”
‘They’re both fine.’
Marc let out a sigh of relief. “What’s wrong then?”
‘I can’t tell you over the phone.’ Suddenly there was a rustling followed by a
‘Give me the phone.’
‘Marc?’
“Ria? What’s up?” Thank god. A familiar voice.
‘Can’t say right now. Just hightail your butt over to Liz’s pronto. Don’t worry
no one’s dying. Just get over here.’
“Yes Ma’am Hurricane DeLuca.”
‘I am not kidding Marc. It’s important.’
Just then there was a knock at his door. He proceeded to the door, cordless
phone in hand. “Ria hold on there’s someone at the door.”
‘Yep. Make it quick.’
“Will...” He cut himself off as he opened the door to find a little boy who
looked as if he lost his best friend, on his doorstep. He was almost a spitting
image of himself except he had blue eyes. Blue eyes that reminded him so
much of Montega’s. The little boy hastily handed him a crumbled piece of
paper. He then quickly scanned the note, and dropped the phone after
reading the first line, scribbled in a once familiar handwriting.
Dear Marc,
I know it’s been almost four years since we last saw each other,
He read the line over and over while drifting in a daze.
All that could be heard was Maria shouting Marc’s name into the
phone.
He quickly recovered enough to pick up the phone and say “I’ll be there in a
little while.” and hang up.
He ushered the boy in and sat down to finish reading the note. He could
almost hear Jana’s voice as he read it.
Dear Marc,
I know it’s been almost four years since we last saw each other, but it wasn’t
really my choice. Kevin kind of dragged me off with him. It wasn’t until two
months ago that I found out the real reason. I had always thought it was
because people from our past were after us. But for what Kevin did to Liz, I
am truly sorry. I never meant for any of this to happen.
At this point Marc thought What past?
Right now, I know you’re probably thinking ‘What past?’ But trust me in
time you will understand. I cannot begin to explain what happened in this
note. It would be too much for me to write. I promise at some point you will
get an in person explanation. But for now, accept my apology for leaving you
the way I did. Know that I loved you. Know that I still love you. Not a day
goes by when I don’t think about you. But it’s for the best that we don’t see
each other for now. Again I cannot tell you why. It’s best that you don’t
know. The less you know the less danger you and our son are in.
Marc’s eyes almost bugged out of his head. “Son!?!” He said while running a
hand through his hair. This was all so confusing to him.
Yes, Marc, I did just say son. I know you’re probably confused as all hell
right now. Don’t be. That blue eyed, little angel in front of you is no doubt
your son. Just look at him. His name is Marcus Joseph Parker Jr. I named
him after the most honorable man I know, you of course. He’s almost four.
He was born June 11, 1998. He has been the light of my life ever since. But I
can’t take care of him anymore. Some bad people are after me. The ones
from my past. I can’t let Marc be caught in the middle. So I sent him to you;
the only other person in the world that I’d trust him with. Please take care
of our baby. He is very special. He has special gifts. Gifts that must be
protected.
Please understand that I did not want to keep this from you but I had no
choice. I’ve spent the last four years on the run. Not only to protect Kevin
but to protect myself. There are people that want to harm me because of
who I am, and where I come from. And I don’t mean my adopted family
either. For now the best place for Jr. is with you. Please keep him safe. And
let him know his Mommy loves him.
With Love,
Jana
PS : All of his things are in your car. I can’t believe that you still have that
old thing. ;) I guess some things will never change.
Marc looked up from the note only to meet the little boy’s teary gaze. My
god, I have a son.
“Daddy?” The little boy whispered.
“Yes?” Marc answered weakly.
The boy quickly jumped into his lap. “Mommy said that she had to go away
and I have to stay with you.” He sobbed. It was obvious that little Marc
adored his mother and was extremely attached to her. This must be killing
him to be separated from her and tossed to a stranger.
Marc was astounded. I have a son. What am I going to do? Who do I tell?
How do I take care of him? I know nothing about little kids except for
Montega. One thought popped into his mind. Liz.
He picked up his sobbing son up and grabbed his keys off the table.
“Where?” Little Marc sniffled. “Where are we going?”
“To see my cousin Liz.” She’ll know what to do.
“Okay.”
The Parker Residence:
Roswell, New Mexico
“Marc! Marc!” Maria yelled into the phone. “Damn he hung up.”
“Why would he do that?”
“Someone was at the door. It must’ve been important because he stopped
midsentence. But he said he’d be here soon. But, Micheal are you sure this is
a good idea?” Maria questioned her partner in crime worriedly.
He nodded. Assurance in his eyes. “Yes. He could be in danger too. If Kevin
comes back. He’ll go after anyone he can. That includes Marc. His ex-best
friend. If Liz trusts him, we can trust him.”
“And we can. Because I do. I don’t want anything to happen to him. He needs
to know, even if only for his protection. It’s for our own good. If he’s
prepared, it’s one less person we have to worry about.”
“But what if he freaks out and goes to tell someone? What if he tells the
wrong people? What if he goes to the FBI? What if..”
“What if nothing Maria! He won’t tell anyone for one simple reason. Montega.
She’s his favorite person in the world. He would never do anything to
jeopardize her safety or happiness. He only wants what’s best for her. And
that’s why I’m not worried.”
“All right. Calm down. Nothing’s going to happen. Not as long as I’m around.”
Max interupted as he walked into the room with Montega on his
back.
“Yeah! Not as long as Max is around.” She declared and hugged him
tightly.
“Sweetie I thought I put you in bed.” Liz said as she tried to peel her
daughter from her boyfriend.
“I was telling her a story and she wanted a drink.” He said with a
smirk.
“Maxwell. She’s already got you wrapped around her finger. You just fell
victim to one of the oldest tricks in the book. The I need a drink but I really
don’t wanna go to bed trick. Wow, she pulled that one on you already. I’m
surprised.”
Liz laughed heartily. “Micheal would know. He’s fallen victim to that one quite
a few times.”
Montega jumped off Max’s back and stuck her small hands on her hips as she
declared, “Hey I’m in the room ya know.”
“Yeah. Yeah.” Max said as he put her down. “Just go get your drink and then
it’s off to bed with you little miss.”
“Oh all right.” She sighed. “I’ll be right back.” And she stomped off in the
direction of the kitchen.
Liz sat back and smiled. The way Max’s eyes lit up when he talked to
Montega spoke volumes. He adored her. And she could tell that the feeling
was more than mutual.
She stood up and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind. She laid
her head on his back. “You’re a trip you know that?”
“But why?”
“Because, you just are. My daughter hasn’t said more than three words to
me all night and has been clinging to you. If that prophecy is right. She’s
gonna be such a Daddy’s girl. At least if you have anything to say about
it.”
He laughed in response. “What’s the problem with that? Huh?”
“You’re stealing my Montega time.”
“Oh please. She always be first and foremost her Mama’s little girl. And you
know it. Besides she’s your daughter.”
“Sure you say that now. Just you wait. Pretty soon she’ll be able to con you
into getting anything she wants. Just ask Micheal.”
Micheal nodded his head. “Yep.”
Just then the doorbell rang. “I’ll get it.” Maria declared. She started talking
before she opened the door, knowing exactly who it was. “Marc, took ya long
enough.”
“Yeah well something came up.”
Liz ran to hug her cousin. As she threw her arms around him, she noticed
the little boy behind him.
“Who’s this?” She asked quizzically.
“Apparently, according to this note from Jana,” He said as he handed the
paper to Liz for her inspection, “that’s my son. Marc, say hello to your
cousin Liz.”
She froze. Jana? Marc’s son? Oh shit, what next?
Little did she know, that was the worst possible question to be asking at
that moment. Trouble, in the form of two people, was on the horizon and it
all began with a capital K.
