Title: If They Only Knew
Author: Jenn
The Disclaimer & Such: Sadly *sniffle* I do not own Roswell or any of its characters. Max, Liz & co. belong to Melinda Metz & the United Paramount Network (You lucky people). All other characters in the story are mine. But if I had my way I would definitely own Jason Behr ;)~~ ok that's enuff I'm getting carried away. On with the show.
Rating: R ~ For situations and language
Category: Would you expect anything else? M/L mostly but the gang's all there. Hey I’m a total Dreamgirl!!
Summary: For three and a half years, Elizabeth Parker has kept a dark secret from her friends. The real question is if her friends knew her secret would they all still love her?
Author’s Note:This is a Tess-free Alterna-Roswell. Let’s pretend that they rescued Max and things went back to what they consider to be normal. Nasedo did replace Pierce but little Miss Homewrecker Harding died in a car accident a few years back so technically their destinies don’t exist anymore. This story takes place towards the end of their junior year (April-May).
Feedback: Greatly appreciated.......I know I still haven’t finished “My Ain’t That Just An Interesting Twist of Fate” yet but I got the inspiration for this one and felt compelled to write it. I hope you like it.

Now on to your regularly scheduled fanfic.................

Part 10 (And The Truth Shall Set You Free...Or So They Say...)

All seven of them quickly turned to be met by none other than Special Agent Daniel Pierce. Nasedo was back. But why?

He turned to Liz “Tell me, what is the child’s name?”

“Why? ”She with a mixture of anger and curiousity. Liz wasn’t normally one to hold grudges but she had made a special exception for Nasedo.

“Liz I’m not here to hurt you.”

“Gee, doesn’t that sound a bit familiar. Let’s see what was I doing the last time I heard that? Oh yeah, that’s right, I was KIDNAPPED! And then my boyfriend was snatched by the FBI.” She remarked sarcastically.

“I never harmed you.” He said calmly.

“But scaring the crap out of me, and nearly getting Max killed was nothing right?”

“Liz I am here to provide some of the answers to you questions. I will not harm you in any way, shape, or form.” He said sincerely.

“Oh. Yeah. If memory serves correct, you don’t bother with, how was it you put it? Insignificant humans. Ring a bell?”

“Elizabeth, I am not here to bring any harm to any of you, especially your daughter.” He said while bending down so he was at eye level with Montega, who just smiled at him, almost as if she knew him. “Could you please tell me her name?”

“Montega.” She replied with a look of confusion.’Hey how in the hell did he know that she was my daughter.’

He nodded with a smile on his face, while answering her silent question. “It was quite obvious that she is yours.” He smiled at Liz. That only served to further confuse her as to his intentions. Why is he here? And since when does he smile? I get the feeling that I should be very, very worried.

“Montega. It was her destiny to have that name.”

“And what makes you say that?” Max questioned. ‘Why does the word destiny bother me?’

Pierce/Nasedo turned to Max. “Because in Antarian, Montega means savior.”

“So what?” Micheal said in his trademark ‘Do-you-have-a-point?’ tone.

Ignoring all else Maria turned to her best friend. “Liz what does it say?”

She briefly scanned the writings. “It doesn’t make sense.” Definitely not. Because according to this, my daughter and I are the saviors of another planet. What a farce.’ She silently laughed to herself.

“Oh but it does Elizabeth.” ‘All this time. And she was right under my nose.’

“But I don’t get it. It can’t be true.”

“Why don’t you read it to the others and they can explain it for you.”

“All right but I don’t think it’ll do much good.” She ran her hands across the symbols and began to read aloud.

“Centuries from now, in far away lands, a child of mixed blood will come into existence. She will be a true sight to behold with most entrancing eyes. For she will be one of a kind. This child will prove to be the saving grace of Antar.”

Max interupted Liz with a question. “Antar?”

“Our homeland.” Nasedo/Pierce explained. He then looked at Liz and Montega and gestured for her to continue.

“Both she and her mother will have no knowledge of their chosen path until the eve of the full moon of their homeland shortly before the fourth anniversary of the child’s birth. At which time, both shall receive their abilities. This child, will be stronger than any Antarian ever known. For she is the key to preserving the futures of both her worlds. Together, both child and mother will be capable of things no being has ever dreamt of.” Liz was stopped by Alex as he attempted to explain what she had just read.

“I think what this is saying is that both mother and daughter will discover their powers on the night of the last full moon before the daughter’s fourth birthday. Right?” He asked in Nasedo’s general direction.

“That is correct.” He replied in amazement. ’I just can’t believe it.’

He had always been skeptical of the prophecy until now. Suddenly he felt wrong for even thinking of Liz as an meaningless human these past months. She really deserved the treatment and protection that he gave Max, Micheal and Isabel, if not more. But he wouldn’t admit that just yet. Liz still had to finish reciting the centuries old prophecy.

“Elizabeth, would you please continue?”

“Sure.” ‘Since when did I become Elizabeth? How come he’s suddenly holding me in such high regards?’

“The child’s birthfather will know of and pose a great threat to her existence shortly after the transformation is complete. He will attempt to prevent the child from accomplishing her destiny.” Liz was now panicking.

“Does this mean that Montega and I are in danger?”

“Yes and No.”

“It’s a one answer question. There is no in between.” Maria angrily threw in. “I think we have a right to know if my best friend and niece are in danger.”

Liz smiled at Maria and grabbed her hand for support.

“It will be explained.” He replied cryptically.

“Um.” Micheal interupted. “This might sound like a dumb question. But, how is this all possible? Liz and Montega are human.”

Nasedo shook his head. “No they are not. Liz has not been completely human for some time.”

“How so?”

“Montega is not a full blooded human. Therefore, by being with Montega’s father, she was changed. And I’m also guessing that she was altered further by way of Max’s healing her.”

“So basically I haven’t been human since I was thirteen?”

“In a sense. Yes.”

Nasedo again knelt down in front of Montega so that he could talk to her. He felt it best that she should finish reading because she was probably the only one in the room with a clear head. “Montega, would you like to finish reading?”

“Wait a minute, how can she read?” Alex piped up.

“Because I taught her.” Liz replied calmly.

“Duh.” Isabel said as she elbowed Alex for his stupidity. “Liz is like a genius so why wouldn’t Montega be!?!”

He shook his head in understanding and decided to lighten the mood a little. “Ohhh. Yeah I guess that’s true. And I see that your blond side has momentarily resurfaced, by the way you’re talking.” He said with a laugh.

Max looked at him with pity. Ouch. He just hit Izzy’s sore spot. God help him.’

“Forgive me.” He laughed nervously. “Temporary insanity.” So much for lightening the mood.

Just when he thought that everyone had ignored him, three smacks to the back of his head told him otherwise.

“Hey Alex. I’ll give ya three guesses who hit you.” Micheal laughed.

“Keep it up, Spaceboy. You’ll get hit next.” Micheal was silent.

“Good choice, honey.”

Max interupted the fun. “Guys? Can we get back on track here?”

“Montega do you want to finish reading?”

Montega ignored all the people around her except for Nasedo. “Yep.” She replied eagerly and stepped towards the wall. Before she began reading, she reached out and touched the symbols. To everyone’s disbelief, they seemed to emit a pale yellow glow. It didn’t phase her one bit and she proceeded to read the rest of the prophecy to the chamber full of bewildered adults.

“It is the duty of the remaining members of the foursquare to assure the safety of the Chosen One and her mother, for they are of the same race as her father. Once it is established that he is truly gone, their leader is to assume the role of her father. For it was meant to be that way since the dawn of time.”

Montega looked at Max as silent tears streamed down her face. “I always wanted a Daddy.” His breath caught in his throat as she began reading again.

“Both he and the child’s mother, his cherished one, (Max looked over at Liz who was standing right next to him. He reached out for her hand and she willingly gave it to him. They both looked at each other with such love in their eyes. Their dream had finally come true, they were truly meant to be together.) will assist the child in her task once it is her time. Until it is her time she is to be raised in her mother’s homeland alongside her cousins, who like her, will be of mixed origin. It will be the task of the Chosen One, her siblings, and cousins to silence the enemy, bring about peace and restore their family’s rightful place as the rulers of Antar.”

“I just have one question for you?” Micheal said gesturing at Nasedo.

“Ask away.”

“How come Liz and Montega are the only two who can read that?”

“Because, only the Chosen One and her mother were meant to be able to read it.”

“Do you hear that Mama? I’m the chosen one.”

“Yes hunny but I still don’t believe it.”

“I never believed this myself.” Nasedo said while rubbing his head in confusion. “I had always thought this prophecy to be untrue. I was obviously wrong.”

“Why?” Maria questioned.

He turned to face the entire group. Isabel was laying back on Alex who looked extremely content, Micheal had his arms around Maria’s waist and his head was resting on her shoulder, and Liz had her arms around Max who was now holding on to Montega for dear life.

“I was instructed not to teach the foursqaure of this prophecy by order of King Victor. He said it was of no use to them because it was born from the false hopes of a slowly dying race. Ours. Antar has been involved in civil war for the last two-hundred years. You four were sent here in the hopes that you would one day be able to return and free our people of this war.”

“Four?” Montega said. “But there’s only Max, Aunt Izzybel, and Uncle Micheal.”

“No Montega there was a fourth. And for the last three years I had thought that I failed Victor by letting her die.”

“Her?” Max questioned.

“Yes Max, her name was Tess. She completed the foursqaure. She was your intended in this life. She was your wife in your last.”

“Wife?”

“You didn’t marry Ava by choice. Not that she was so pleased about it either.”

“I thought you said our fourth’s name was Tess.”

“In this life it was. In her last life she was Princess Avaria Montuyo of Talara. You” he said while gesturing to Max, Micheal and Isabel respectively “were His Royal Highness Prince Zander Grimaldi, High Commander of the Royal Army Rath Moretti, and Her Royal Highness Princess Vilandra Grimaldi, all of Antar.”

“What were we Italian or something?” Isabel asked jokingly.

“Antar’s equivalent. Basically.” Nasedo answered honestly.

Max interupted. “So if I didn’t have to marry Ava by choice, what happened?”

“No, it was definitely not by choice, Max. You fought Victor every step of the way on that.” He shook his head smiling at the memory of when Victor had given Zan the ultimatum. Zan had basically flipped out on Victor.

Victor was sitting at the desk in his throne room, waiting for Zan. Nasedo was sitting to his left.

“Nasedo you have children? Correct?”

“Three, Your Majesty. A daughter and two sons. Navika’s a bit younger than Vilandra, fifteen. Nicholas is thirteen, and Nathan just turned three.”

“I see. The teenage years are horrid aren’t they?”

“No sir. They behave fairly well for all they have had to endure. Their mother died giving birth to Nathan. It’s been quite hard for them to adjust.”

Victor shook his head in understanding. “Maybe that is Zan and Vilandra’s problem. Since their mother died, they don’t listen like they used to.”

Zan enters and sits in the chair opposite his father.

“You called for me father?”

“Yes Zan I did. I brought you here to make an agreement of sorts with you.”

“Father?”

“Zan let’s face it. I am getting old. You are next in line for the throne. I want to see you at least married before I pass on.”

“So then I will find a wife.” ‘Not this conversation again. It’s a bit redundant.’

“Yes you will. And it had better be soon. If you fail to find a suitable wife for yourself within a year, you will marry whomever I choose.”

“And just would that be?” Zan scoffed. He didn’t even take Victor’s threats seriously anymore.

“Princess Ava.”

A look of shock crossed Zan’s face. “Ava!” He yelled angrily. “Father are you insane? You can’t seriously expect me to marry her. I refuse to marry her. She’s no more than a child.”

“That’s all well and good if you don’t want to marry her. But remember she’s of child bearing age and can produce a suitable heir.”

“Hah! I certainly do not. And I will find a wife on my OWN! One that is of a reasonable age. I will not be forced into a marriage that neither I nor Ava want. I refuse to make her a child bride.”

“Well then I suggest you immediately begin looking for a wife.”

“Father you cannot be serious.”

“Trust that I am Zan. I have already spoken to King Relan. You have six months.”

“Six months.” He threw his hands up in anger. “This is priceless. You expect me to find suitable wife in six months. Correct me if I am wrong but your father did not do this to you.”

“That’s because I was married on my eighteenth birthday. And don’t bring your mother and my relationship into this.”

“Mother must be rolling over in her grave. This is insane. You’ve gone nuts. That’s what it is. Temporary insanity. We should have the doctors look at you father.”

“Zan do not play that game with me. I am not sick. I am perfectly sane. You have six months from this day to find a wife of suitable status or Ava will be a Grimaldi. The choice is yours.”

“Some choice.” Zan yelled angrily as he exited the chamber.

“The only reason you had to marry Ava was because you had failed to find a wife of your own accord by the deadline your father had set for you. Victor wanted grandchildren before he died. He wanted to make sure the Grimaldi name was carried on. So it was either you and Ava produce an heir, or Vilandra and Rath produce one.” At his comment, Micheal and Isabel looked at each other in disgust. She mouthed ‘Not in million years.’ to him.

“Vilandra wouldn’t even entertain the idea of marrying Rath. (Isabel shook her head violently in protest. Micheal didn’t seem much happier. Just the mere thought of being together repulsed the both of them.) She used to say that she would rather live the rest of her life at the Sanctuary.”

“And even now I would. What’s the Sanctuary?”

“The closest thing akin to it on Earth, is a convent.”

She shook her head. “Yep I would rather live the rest of my natural life at the Sanctuary.”

Micheal agreed. “Ditto. No offense Is, but I would never.”

“Oh dear brother, I agree. All that I will ever see you as is a brother. Especially when I’ve got Alex.”

“Same here. Just change the brother to sister and Alex to Maria.”

Alex was in hysterics. “You mean that Isabel and Micheal were supposed to be married in a past life? I can’t see that at all.”

Nasedo nodded.

“And they didn’t kill each other?”

“No. I don’t think that would’ve pleased Victor very much. Not that the situation pleased Vilandra at all.”

“Okay.” Micheal interupted. “Can we get to the part about the prophecy?”

“Well Zan and Vilandra’s mother, Jacinda, wanted her children to learn of and be taught the prophecy. She felt it would be fulfilled in their lifetimes. That was the only topic that Victor and Jacinda strongly disagreed with each other on.”

“So when the war broke out, you four including Ava were among the first casualties. It was decided that you would be reincarnated and sent to be raised on another planet until you were ready to return. You were the only hope for both Antar and Talara. The ruler of the third planet in our system, Kivar, was waging war on any planet that refused to pledge it’s allegiance to him. Your mother was injured in an attack on the Royal mansion. She begged me to let you learn of this prophecy. She believed so strongly that it was her children who would help to fulfill it. Victor had ordered me not to teach it to you. I reluctantly agreed, much to your mother’s dismay. But just before she died, Queen Jacinda sent for me. She explained that it was her dying wish. (Isabel and Max both had tears in their eyes.) She asked that I at least print the prophecy somewhere so that if the Chosen Ones were found, they would know. I agreed to grant her wish. And that is how Liz and Montega can read it. Jacinda was right.”

“But there’s still one thing you filed to go over in your little flashback.”

“What Maria. What could he have possible forgotten?”

“Kevin.”

“Kevin?” Nasedo asked. ’It’s just a coincidence.’ “Does he happen to have any siblings?” He silently prayed that her answer was no. “Yes. A sister Jana.”

“Adopted?” ’Jana is close enough to Janaya for coincidence.’

“Yeah, when they were five.”

“Is their last name Montava?” ‘Good god, say no!’

“Montalvo.” Liz corrected.

Nasedo fell to his knees in defeat. ‘It’s true. I thought that was simply a threat from Kivar. We were so naive.’

“Nasedo? What is it?” Liz asked in genuine concern.

“K....k.....kevin is Mavian.”

“Mavian?”

Max closed his eyes in remembrance. Some memories from Antar were resurfacing.

Isabel answered Micheal’s question. “Kivar ruled Mavia.”

“That’s not all. Prince Kevin Montava along with his twin sister Princess Janaya, were sent here around the same time as the Royal Four.”

“That’s just a coincidence, right?”

“I don’t think so Micheal. I’m just guessing here. Could Kevin and Jana be Kivar’s children.”

“No.”

The group suddenly released a breath that no one realized they were holding while awaiting his answer.

Maria let out a little laugh and she clutched her chest. “Oh well that’s a relief.”

“Not quite, Maria. Kevin is something far worse.”

“How so?” Max asked.

“First off, you have to remember something. And keep it in mind. Jana was always against this war.”

Micheal cocked an eyebrow in interest. “And what does that have to do with Kevin being ‘far worse’?”

“It does.” Nasedo answered cryptically.

“I’m gonna take a stab in the dark based on what you’ve told us but, is Kevin, Kivar?”

Liz almost laughed at the suggestion. ‘I mean C’mon. If Kevin was Kivar wouldn’t he have done away with Max a long time ago.’ “Maria that sounds ridiculous.”

Nasedo replied. “No Maria he’s not. Although Kevin poses just as much danger to you as Kivar does.”

“Why?” Liz asked as she began to feel nauseous.

Nasedo answered solemnly. “Kevin and Jana are Kivar’s younger brother and sister.”

Isabel gasped. “Brother and sister? That makes Montega, Kivar’s niece. Oh my god.”

Nasedo nodded.

Then Liz’s world went black.
