Description: Alex has a good day.

--------

Alex walked swiftly to his car, after a long hard day he didn't want to be at school anymore. All he wanted to do was go home, play his guitar for a while to take his mind of his troubles, do some minor homework, then sleep.

He was so deep in thought about the next events in his life that he was completely oblivious to the fact that Isabel had walked right up to him. "Alex, Alex? Hello?"

She had to call him a few times before he even heard anything. "Isabel, He--, hey, what's up?" He asked as he unlocked his car doors.

She shrugged her shoulders and said "Eh, not much, I wanted to see if things were ok, um, you know, um, you know between us." She had hoped that the nervousness in her voice wasn't going to give her away. It wasn't everyday that Isabel Evans ties up loose ends with boys, minus Michael and Max obviously.

But Alex had heard her hesitating, he really didn't know what to think of it. 'Maybe she just got something caught in her voice.' His mind was telling him. "Yeah, of course, I mean, why wouldn't we be?" He was hoping to get a reason other than the 'Max is missing' excuse for Isabel kissing him earlier that week.

Rubbing her hands together Isabel thought for a moment "Yeah, ok, great then, see you later Alex." With that she walked off to meet Max and Michael at the Crashdown.

After letting this register with him, Alex accepted Isabel's slight brush off of his question and proceded on his way home. He had figured out that all he needed to do as quit thinking of Isabel and get on with more important matters of his life...like surviving dodge ball.

Isabel walked into the cafe in time to hear the middle of a conversation between Michael and Max. "So you and Maria as still..." Max said to Michael.

Nodding, Michael said "Yeah, I mean, we're giving it a shot, taking it slow, but it's nice to have someone else to have and talk to, besides you and Isabel obviously. How about you and Liz?"

Michael turned his head to see Isabel entering "Hey guys." She said before taking a seat. Both boys nodded their head in her arrival.

Max and Michael continued with their conversation, "Yeah, things are going good, and I haven't lost sight of our important issues, not yet at least." Max said jokingly.

Michael began laughing when he saw Maria heading his way. "I just called Alex and he should be here-- Oh hey Isabel." Maria said as she noticed Isabel sitting next to Max.

Turning her head at the sound of Alex's voice she asked "What about Alex?" She tried to ask it nonchalantly, but she didn't think it worked very well. She knew she had been caught when she saw a secret smile Maria sent to Michael about her questionnaire on Alex.

"I asked Alex to cover for me tonight, sometimes if I really need him he helps me out and takes my shift here. Tonight I've got, um, I've got plans." Maria said looking at Michael with her last sentence.

Michael shot Maria a glance as Maria continued, "So like I was saying, Alex will be here in a few minutes, I'm going to go, get ready." And with that said, Maria left to go to the backroom.

A few minutes later, Maria came back out and her and Michael took off somewhere Isabel had no idea about. Her mind was focus mainly on Alex.

Max saw Alex enter first, "Isabel, I'm going to go see how Liz is doing." At first Isabel was surprised at Max's sudden exit, but when she saw Alex, she didn't care.

Alex walked by her, giving her a brief smile and then continuing on his way to report to Liz that he was here. "Hey, Liz, Max." Alex greeted them both.

"Listen, Alex I don't really need you at the moment, I mean this place is extremely dead tonight, so you can just hang till it picks up more, or you can leave if you have something to do." Liz and Alex looked around to see about 4 other people in the restaurant.

"Yeah, I'll just mingle a bit here." With that he walked over to where Isabel was. His better judgment told him he should probably walk out the door and go home and continue with his plans to do nothing that night, but his feet were on auto-pilot towards Isabel.

"Hey Alex." She greeted him.

"Hi, Liz told me to wait here until this place picks up a bit, so I thought I would hang with you, unless you don't want me too?" Ok, so a little white lie about his motive wasn't going to kill anyone.

Looking up at him Isabel said, "No, you can sit with me."

'Score!' Alex thought to himself. He didn't think coaching himself to forget about her would help him now. "Listen, Ok, I just need to ask you one question. That kiss that we shared before, was it really what you said, was it just about 'finding Max.' Or was there another reason?" Phew, he had finally gotten that off his chest.

She tapped her foot nervously against the table leg. "Listen Alex, I can't get involved, I mean, I wish--" Isabel and Alex both directed their gazes to where Max and Liz were. Their foreheads were millimeters apart, they were just gazing into each other's eyes, like nobody in the world existed besides them. "Tomorrow, you want to go catch a movie?" Isabel said, changing her mind.

"As friends?" Alex just had to ask.

She smiled at him, "As my date." She declared to him. If there was ever a chance for them to be together, now was just as good a time as any. Right?
