Summary: AU Fic Michael adopted by a rich family and is very popular at
Roswell high. Football jock. Max and Isabel are almost the same but Max is
a jock football player too and Isabel is a party chick who is dating bad boy
Alex Whitman who is a party guy too. Maria was adopted too by a rich family.
Liz is the same. Maria and Liz are best friends and they are popular and
they talk to Michael, Max and Isabel but not on a regular basis.

Isabel was walking down the hall and as she turned the corner she saw Michael
calling after Maria. He looked so hurt. She'd never seen Michael like this,
he'd always been so carefree. She walked up behind him to offer comfort.
"She's still not talking to you?"
He turned around starled. "Isabel how long have you been there?"
"Don't worry I didn't hear anything i just barely turned the corner. Are you
okay?"
"No" he replied as if he even needed to. "I don't know if I will be either"
"I totally understand, despite what happened Alex dumped me, he chose being a
pot head over me. I know what you're going through."
"Isabel I'm sorry that I haven't been there for you, I know how hard it is
you know breaking up with Alex"
Up until now she hadn't shown much emotion when anyone was around, but she
couldn't contain herself any longer. She broke down crying and Michael took
her out of the hallway into an empty class room.
"Isabel, I won't even try to tell you not to cry it's okay cry as much as you
want." he held her for comfort.
"I've been waiting the last few days just hoping that he would come to see me
or even call me. He hasn't even looked at me today."
"Same for me too, the only way I got Maria to talk to me was by trapping her"
Isabel laughed lightly, she had been thinking about doing the same with Alex.
While Isabel was pouring her heart to Michael they didn't notice someone just
outside the door listening to their conversation.
"I mean how could it be so easy for him to let go" she continued "I guess he
didn't love me as much as I thought, he didn't love me like I loved him"
Michael hoped that Isabel was wrong, but he didn't know what to say.
Alex heard every word.

As soon as Maria got home from school she went straight to the living room to
see her dad."Hey daddy." she greeted him with a kiss.
"Hi mija" he said smiling. "Are you okay?" he noticed something a little off
about her.
"Fine," she said trying to convince herself.
"You know mijita I've been self involved for years, I want to know all that I've neglected to learn about you. Tell me what is going on in your life"
"Nothing much" she said simply hoping to get out of this situation. She
didn't want to explain how she dogged a great guy because she couldn't deal.
"Really," he replied knowing there was nore to it than that. "Rosa told me that you had been seeing a boy lately for quite awhile now"
*Damn her* "Well actually we broke up" she said not looking at him in the eyes.
"Maria look at me" she looked up at him and knew she could tell him
anything now."What happened?"
"I don't know. I told him I didn't want to be invovled I need to spend more
time with you. But he's so persistant"
"Do you love him?"
"Yes, " *Oh my God where'd that come from*
"Maria why do you insist on putting your own life on hold, you've done that for far too long already. And I'll be damned if you do it again. I want you to be happy and it's obvious you won't be, with out this boy. Do you really think I've been totally oblivious to you I haven't I noticed how happy you were suddenly."
By this time she was crying. *How could I be so stupid* "Thank you daddy I love you" she said and left to go find Michael.
