�Michael, you have just got to give up man. No matter how hard you try, you
can�t keep her out of your heart,� Max said. It was a beautiful, warm,
summer day. The whole gang had gone on a camping excursion that weekend.
Michael was sitting outside of his tent thinking. Max, as usual, was right
on about what he was thinking. Maria, the girl that he could not clear from
his head. She was the sunshine in his life, but he wouldn�t admit it. He had
pushed her away so many times, he only wanted what was best for her. Michael
didn�t know what to do, but until he could make up a decision, he enjoyed
spending time with Maria. She made him feel good. She understood him and
cared for him.
�I�m going down to the creek! I�ll be back later,� Maria said as she headed
down a path to a creek that wasn�t too far away.
�Hey Maria, you should really go with someone, so you don�t get lost and in
case you get hurt,� Liz said, being the practical one in the group.
�But, Liz, I want some alone time.�
�No buts,� Liz said, feeling like a mom, �Michael, why don�t you go with
her?�
�Ah Mom, do I hafta?� Michael remarked sarcastically and got up to follow
Maria. He didn�t mind at all, but didn�t want everyone else to know.
�Oh great,� Maria mumbled under her breath. When they got down to the creek,
Maria climbed over to a rock that was in the middle of the stream and sat
down. �You just stay over there, and don�t talk, I�m trying to relax.�
�Ok, fine,� Michael said. He looked over to where she was, she had laid down
now and let the sun beat down on her through the trees. Her hair glistened,
and the light seemed to accentuate all the right places. Michael couldn�t
help but feel something inside of him. She was just too beautiful. He just
wanted everything to be right.
*There you see her, sitting there across the way,
she don�t got a lot to say but there�s something about her,
and you don�t know why, but you�re dying to try you want to kiss the girl�*
�Maria?�
�Hmm?�
�Can I come sit over there with you? There�s too much shade over here. I
want some sun.�
A small smile spread across Maria�s lips, �I guess, but don�t bother me too
much.�
Michael climbed over to the rock that she was laying on and laid down right
next to her. He brushed her arm and a sensation went through him. He knew
that she felt it too, because she turned her head and looked at Michael
questioningly. He looked at her and a slight smile spread on his face.
Was that just a smile she saw? Maria�s mind was going crazy trying to figure
out what Michael Guerin had up his sleeve.
They lay there for awhile just relaxing. Michael looked at Maria and tried
desperately to figure out what these feeling within him were. He couldn�t
stop them and they were all because of this girl who stole his heart.
*Yes you want her, look at her you know you do,
possible she wants you too, there is one way to ask her,
it don�t take a word, not a single word, go on now and kiss the girl.*
�What?� Maria asked.
�What do you mean what?� Michael asked as he propped himself on his elbow.
�Why are you looking at me like that?�
Michael felt a moment of pure happiness and decided to mess with Maria,
because he always loved to get her riled up, �What, you mean like this?� he
asked as he made a strange face.
�If you�re not careful, your face will stick like that!� Maria said enjoying
his moment, he didn�t have them too often. They stared at each other for a
minute and then Michael looked away, still not understanding the
overwhelming feeling that he got in his stomach.
*Sha la la la la la, my oh my, look like the boy too shy ain�t gonna kiss
the girl,
Sha la la la la la ain�t that a shame too bad, you gonna miss the girl.*
�Michael? Why do you always look away from me?�
�What are you talking about?�
�You always look away. Just like now, we were having a moment, and you
looked away, like you can�t stand to look at me, am I really that ugly?�
�No, it�s nothing like that, you are not ugly, I can�t believe you even said
that, Maria, you are the most beautiful girl I have ever met,� Michael said,
he was starting to open up a little bit to her. "That�s why I look away, if
I look at you too long, then I get too attached.�
Maria just looked at him, sad at what she had heard. He thought that she was
beautiful, yet he was still afraid to show her, to be with her, to love her.
She was speechless, she didn�t know what to say, her heart was sinking.
*Now�s your moment, floating in a blue lagoon,
Boy you better do it soon, no time would be better,
She don�t say a word, and she won�t say a word until you kiss the girl*
�Come here,� Michael said. He got up and reached his hand out for Maria. She
took his hand and again there was a spark of passion between the two.
Michael led her down the creek and to a field of wildflowers. He picked a
few of the flowers and gave them to Maria. �Pretty flowers, for such a
pretty girl,� he said.
Maria loved what he was doing, but was angry at the same time, �Michael, I
don�t get you. You can be the world�s biggest jerk and then sometimes you
are so sweet and gentle, but you still won�t let me in, you don�t want to be
with me, do you not love me? Or are you still afraid of who you are? Because
you know what frankly, I don�t care who you are, I love you, and I want to
be with you, but you won�t let me.�
Michael was speechless. He didn�t know what to do, he wanted to just run
away from all of this, but he knew that he couldn�t. He had to face his
fears. All of them. �I�I�m scared for you, Maria. It�s not that I don�t love
you, oh God Maria, it couldn�t be that, I�I love you so much, I�m scared
that by being with me, I�m putting you in danger. Plus, you�re so amazing
and wonderful, you don�t deserve a guy like me, you deserve someone a whole
lot better, someone normal.� Maria just stared at him. Her eyes were
beginning to tear up. Then she pulled him into an embrace.
*Sha la la la la la , don�t be scared you�ve got to move your head, go on
and kiss the girl

kiss the girl

�Michael,� she was crying now and between her sobs she managed to say, �I
love you so much, there is no other guy for me, you are my guy, I don�t want
any other guy. And as for me being in danger, I am in as much danger out of
a relationship than I am in a relationship. Face it Michael Guerin, I love
you and I�m not going to magically disappear. I love you too much.�
*You want to kiss the girl,

Go on and kiss the girl*
Michael put his hand on Maria�s chin and lifted her head so she could see
into his eyes. He was crying. Only at one other time, had Maria seen him
cry. �I love you Miss DeLuca, you stole my heart..� He leaned down and
kissed her. It was such a warm, sunny, beautiful day.
