Sect 5-1  Solving  MONOMIALS
by Matthew B.

A monomial is an  expression that is a number, a variable, or the product of a number and one or more variables.

Example:  3x,  12, -r

Constants are monomials that contain no variables.

The numerical factor of a monomials a coefficient.

Example:  -18x,  -18 is the coefficient.

Degree- the sum of the exponents of it's variables.

Example: x^4+2x^8,  The degree is 12

                                            Simplifying Monomials

1. (3x^4 y^3) (-8x y^6)

      (3 x x x x y y y) ( -8 x y y y y y y)

       3(-8) x x x x x y y y y y y y y y

       = -24x^5 y^9

2. ( x^3 y^5)^4

        = x^12 y^20

  The Master Quote ( echooo)

Quote: "  I will catch you on the flip-side"

- this quote basically mean that I will see you when times get better.

My character trait is responsibility because I need to be responsible to work at my job and to keep up in Mrs. Blackwell's class in which I need to keep up with all the work that is due, so I need to make sure that my work is completed.
