SECTION 2.1: A FAIR DIVISION ACTIVITY

       1.  Martha, Frank, and Courtney are all looking at piece of round cake that is on the counter.  They are all looking to get a piece of the cake, but everyone wants a equal piece.  How can all three of them divide the cake so that everyone gets a equal piece?

           - use common sense, for most of this stuff it is just as simple as it looks

SECTION 2.2:  ESTATE DIVISION

Christopher, Mike, Francine, and Carla are all heirs to an estate that includes a mansion, a yacht, a sports car, and 175,000 in cash.

Below are the results of the secret ballad taken for the the Estate:

Mansion Yacht Sports Car
Christopher 98,000 67,000 56,000
Mike 105,000 70,000 50,000
Francine 95,000 75,000 55,000
Carla 85,000 60,000 57,000

-to find the fair share add the amount that the heir bid for each item and divide by the number of items

        Christopher: ( 98,000 + 67,000 + 56,000)  / 3 = 73,666

        Mike: (105,000+ 70,000 + 50,000)  / 3 = 75,000

        Francine: ( 95,000 + 75,000 + 55,000)  / 3 = 75,000

        Carla: ( 85,000 + 60,000 + 57,000)  / 3 = 67,333

                Mike: should receive the Mansion

                Francine: should receive the Yacht

Carla: should receive the Sports Car

Christopher: because he did not successfully bid on any item he should receive his fair share in cash
