Chapter 6 Section 6.1

 Solving Quadratic Equations by     Graphing

At 8,000 feet a stunt pilot goes into a dive and drops about 6,000 feet, his flight path can be represented by the equation  x2 -  x - 6 = 0.  When he returns to his initial altitude how far in miles had he traveled, from where he began his dive. Assume that the y axis is in a scale of 1unit= 1 thousand feet, and that the x axis scale is 1unit = 1 mile.

For a hint on how to do it scroll to the bottom

Quadratic Equation - An equation that can e written in the form ax2 + bx + c = 0

Quadratic Term - In a quadratic equation described by  ax2 + bx + c = 0, the term ax2

Linear Term - In a quadratic equation described by  ax2 + bx + c = 0, the term bx.

Constant Term -In a quadratic equation described by  ax2 + bx + c = 0, the term c.

Answer
