Summary- A chance meeting leads to a sizzling encounter...

'Do you come here, often?'

Her hand tightened slowly around the rim of her ice cool glass. Hearing the low rumble of his voice like a thunderstorm on the horizon, sent shivers down her spine. His words fluttered in the air above her, falling gently into her consciousness. She brushed her tongue quickly over her lips, taking in his question.

He stood close. There was just enough distance between her back and his torso to enable her to retain her pulmonary abilities. The gap created by their bodies, pulsated with energy; the electricity doubling her heart rate. A hand hovered just shy of her hip bone but swayed a fraction, brushing the silk of her dress.

Waiting silently for her reply, she could sense his patience waning. He took a step closer and the warmth he emanated, sent heat waves rolling over her form. Lightly closing her eyes, visions of his face appeared before her. Thinking she was willing to offer nothing in return, he forcefully blew out his breath, preparing to leave her in peace.

'Only, when I need to think…'

He cautiously slid onto the bar stool beside her. Resisting the urge to cry out in protest, she reluctantly accepted their physical separation. His gaze burned a rising flush into her cheeks, and she downed the last of her cocktail as though it were made of courage. She was now all too aware of the low cut of her bodice which had lain dormant in her closet for years gathering dust and regret.

His right leg slackened momentarily and the involuntary lapse of coordination caused their knees to brush against one another, igniting new flames. A familiar ache crept across the pit of her stomach, settling into her pelvis. The normally rational mind she possessed was assaulted and assailed by the merciless weapon of longing.

The silence was so tangible it ensnared her in a twist of imperceptible folds. Yet she remained in her seat powerless to resist. His mouth would shape words that went unspoken, making her strain to hear what he might utter. Still nothing filled the void which unceasingly expanded, threatening to engulf them both.

'What are you thinking about?'

She hesitated for a moment and her throat grew dry at the mere prospect of offering a genuine reply. His eyes, clouded with a stunning degree of intensity, never left her face. They continued their ardent vigil, compelling her deepest reverence.

There was a shade to his irises which steadily darkened, and could not be named. Her extensive vocabulary seemed insufficient to bind simple words to the hallowed attributes she found in his being. Unexpectedly, he began to lean in towards her, as if closer proximity might free her reserve. However it only served to further confound and intoxicate, rendering her mute.

The absurdity of her predicament was not lost on her. Her craving for was so strong that it had left her physically incapacitated with all her senses prey to the overwhelming nature of astonishment. His head tilted slightly, expressing his mounting perplexity, while exposing the smooth underside of his jaw to the benevolence of her kisses.

'Do you really…want to know the truth?'

Her words tumbled out in tiny gasps, which expanded to devour his psyche. Their meaning did not escape him. Nevertheless, his thought process was irrevocably halted by her mouth on his and the fervour of his hands on her heated skin became too much in the dimly lit bar.

She was distantly aware of the other people and their whereabouts beyond their privileged realm. But inside her, a mounting undertow of yearning began to swell so that it caused her to gravitate towards his car like the vast ocean tide ebbing and flowing to the will of the full moon.

His coat lay on the floor before the front door had even been fully opened. In the darkness he reached out for some source of light until her quick hands pulled at his wrists and placed them tightly around her waist. She wanted him to be everywhere. She wanted so that she couldn't breathe. Couldn't speak. Couldn't think- until the moment he left her.

'Yes.'

The one word escaped his throat like a primal growl. It gave flight to the fear that had held him captive within his own self for so many wasted years. His inaction had served to become a far more subtle and damaging poison than any impulsive deed or lingering retreat. Fast approaching its crescendo was love unspoken the loudest resonance of all.

He lay her out in the shards of moonlight scattered haphazardly across the bed. With every protracted caress, she ascended up to the dais of the muse he had long known in his imaginings. Leaving the carnal knowledge of each other on another simpler plain of existence, together they became the fulfilment of their purest passions.

When it became more then she could bear, his name fell from her lips. Their cries merged into a single symphony of realised desire. She did not care then that sweat laced every curve of her and every arch of him. For one brief yet fiercely intense moment, two hearts of equal despondency coalesced into one entity that knew no solitude.

'You.'

Sara offered the truth and Grissom took it from her without any need for explanations, like two strangers in the night.
